Lay Filaments is a German filament manufacturer specializing in unique 3D printing materials with functional properties that meet the needs of all types of projects. His story begins in 2012, when he launched the first wooden filament for 3D printing FDM: LayWoo-D3.
This filament contains 40 % recycled wood and the rest of the binding polymers. Its use is similar to that of the PLA with the peculiarity that the LayWoo-D3 changes color depending on the printing temperature.
This German manufacturer is constantly in search of new materials that can facilitate the printing of all kinds of applications, without neglecting at any time the control of the quality of their materials.
If something stands out Fila Filaments is for its range of filaments, some totally unique in the 3D printing market. GROWLAY is one of those special filaments, able to serve as a growth medium to vegetables through its porosity and microcapillaries that form the material. It is also capable of absorbing water, liquid fertilizer or any nutrient that will be key to feeding the root of the vegetable that you want to grow.
Another filament that was innovative at the time of its launch is the MoldLay, a material with properties similar to wax that allows to print molds both for casting by lost wax and for permanent molding.
Apart from these materials, Lay Filaments has other filaments: porous materials (Gel-Lay, Lay-Fomm 40 and Lay-Fomm 60), Lay-PVA, Lay-Cloud (water-soluble support material for flexible filaments) or Lay-Brick (ceramic). Some of the Lay Filaments materials are also available in pellet format.
Lay Filaments has many years of experience in the development and manufacture of filaments, these being always innovative materials in the 3D printing market. As part of the process of developing materials, always performs a thorough study at the microscopic level before and after the extrusion of the material, from which they extract the information to offer their clients recommendations for use and graphics where different properties of the material are shown.
