The Litophane CMYK PLA Starter set by Rosa3D is designed for enthusiasts of three-dimensional light images (litophanes) who want to expand their creative possibilities beyond traditional white litophanes. The set includes four 1 kg spools of high-quality 1.75 mm PLA filament in the colors Lithophane White, Lithophane Yellow, Lithophane Cyan, and Lithophane Magenta, providing a CMYK color range. This allows users to create vibrant, colorful litophanes with striking visual effects and depth in their designs. In our blog post titled Gadgets, games and crafts with FDM 3D printing we talk about how to 3D print a litophane on an FDM 3D printer. In the case of multicolor litophanes, the recommended 3D printer is one that allows for using multiple spools at once with automatic material changes, such as the Bambu Lab A1 Mini printer with the AMS Combo.

A standout feature of the set is the smart masterspool design of the spools, which facilitates their reuse with Rosa3D materials in ReFill format. This innovative design reduces waste and aligns with sustainable practices by allowing users to easily replace empty spools with new filament refills. This offers existing Rosa3D filament users the flexibility to experiment with a variety of colors and finishes in their litophane creations while minimizing the environmental impact.

Rosa3D's PLA Starter filament is meticulously crafted for novice users venturing into the realm of 3D printing. Designed with simplicity in mind, this filament facilitates an enjoyable printing experience, enabling users to produce aesthetically pleasing prints effortlessly. PLA Starter boasts low shrinkage and emits no unpleasant odors during extrusion. Notably, prints created with PLA Starter exhibit exceptional layer adhesion, ensuring structural integrity, while also achieving impressive detail reproduction. Additionally, these prints can undergo post-processing, offering users the flexibility to enhance and refine their creations. This filament serves as a gateway, encouraging users to gradually explore and tackle more intricate and demanding 3D printing projects.

PLA (Polylactic Acid) stands as a versatile and widely used material in 3D printing thanks to its low warping tendencies, great adhesion, low printing temperatures, vibrant color options and odor-free extrusion. PLA is also renowned for its biodegradability since it is derived from renewable resources, typically corn starch or sugarcane, making it an eco-friendly choice. What's more, this particular PLA Starter is certified for contact with food, which means it can be used to 3D print kitchen utensils, containers, and other objects that come into direct or indirect contact with food (certificate in Downloads). It should be kept in mind that the obligation to certify parts 3D printed with the PLA Starter filament rests with the manufacturer of the end product.

Both the carborundum glass surface on the Ender 3 NEO and the PC coated spring steel magnetic sheet on the Ender 3 V2 NEO will promote great adhesion of the 3D printed part to the build plate. Nevertheless, additional adhesion improving products can be used on the carborundum glass plate such as the BuildTak sheet, a PEI sheet or the Magigoo stick.

Both NEO 3D printers come with everything needed for the assembly and use of the printers, as well as extra accessories such as a sample of filament, cutting pliers, a spatula, a nozzle cleaner, wrenches and a screwdriver, a nozzle and a spool rack. Each kit also includes a user manual.

In addition to the user manual, the manufacturer provides an assembly and tutorial video explaining how to get started with the Ender 3 V2 NEO 3D printer. Product firmware and slicing software can be downloaded from the Creality website for the Ender 3 NEO and Ender 3 V2 NEO.

Due to the nature of this product, should the user require support for this product, we may have to refer the user to the manufacturer. In addition, 3D printers sold in kit format do not have a guarantee of operation, as it depends on the correct assembly by the user.

The recommended printing temperature for the PLA Starter filament ranges between 190-225 ºC, and the best bed temperature is 40-60 ºC. The recommended part cooling fan setting is 70-100 %.

Proper storage of the PLA Starter filament is essential, as processing damp filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It's best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container.

Should the filament absorb excess humidity, it should be dried in a filament dryer for 4 hours at 50 ºC.
