Magigoo is the new generation of components for adhesion to the 3D printing base. The previous generation adhesives were in spray format, which need to be sprayed with the base outside the 3D printer to avoid damage to the components of the 3D printer, pollute the environment and are annoying if used in closed places. They skip the recommendation and apply the spray inside the 3D printer, leaving traces of fixer in the fans and other components, something that will affect the operation and will certainly cause failures in the future.

The Magigoo range consists of:

Magigoo Original

Magigoo PP

Magigoo PPGF

Magigoo PC

Magigoo PA

Magigoo HT

Magigoo Flex

Magigoo Pro Metal

Kit Magigoo

On the manufacturer's website the user can access a continuously upgraded table of 3D printing materials tested with the Magigoo adhesives.

Original Magigoo

The Magigoo is the opposite of the above, it's an odorless liquid adhesive contained in a container in the form of a bar with an applicator on the tip, which facilitates its use. Magigoo magic begins once the base reaches a certain temperature (40ºC for the PLA or 90ºC for the ABS), this product adheres the piece to the base with such force that it could be "printed with the 3D printer upside down". Under normal conditions the duration of adhesion is very long, with impressions of more than 30 hours without problems. This clamping force helps prevent the warping effect, something feared by both amateur and professional users. Once the base has cooled, the piece is removed very easily, as shown in the following video:

But the Magigoo not only works effectively with the PLA or ABS,  but it's compatible with many other materials, even with technicians such as ASA, PLA Especiales, ABS Especiales, PETG, CPE, HiPSTPU and even some brands of Nylons. Also with a single Magigoo you can make more than 100 3D prints.

If you have large format FDM 3D printers or a 3D printer farm, the standard Magigoo format (50 mL) can be cumbersome, slow down the 3D printing process and even lead to uneven application which can impact the quality of 3D printed parts.

Aplicador Magigoo

To solve this problem, Magigoo has developed a tool: the Magigoo applicator, which works with the new 250 mL format of Magigoo adhesive. The Magigoo applicator allows the Magigoo adhesive to be applied in a single pass and with high precision, achieving an even application over the entire printing surface.

It should be noted that the 250 mL format has been specifically designed for use in conjunction with the Magigoo applicator. For this reason, this format does not include a pad for direct application like the 50 mL format.

Magigoo PP

The Magigoo PP is designed to be used exclusively with Polypropylene filaments (PP, XSTRAND GF30-PP). PP is a material widely used in the industrial sector as it is a semicrystalline polymer with good impact resistance and ductility. In addition, its non-polar structure makes it resistant to chemical products, making it ideal for food packaging and medical equipment. But this feature makes PP very difficult to adhere to other materials and conventional 3D printing adhesives (3DLac, DimaFixPrintaFix). Thanks to the Magigoo PP this problem has disappeared, the application of this liquid adhesive in combination with the hot base, ensure a 3D printing without warping problems. In addition, once the base cools, the piece is very easy to remove.

Magigoo PPGF

Continuing the development of specific adhesives for special materials, Magigoo offers an adhesive specifically for Polypropylene with Fiberglass. This material presents one of the greatest mechanical properties of the market, with a very high traction module and good chemical resistance. The Magigoo PCGF is the ideal adhesive to combine with the advanced filament XSTRAND GF30-PP and achieve pieces without problems of adherence to the base and remove them easily.

Magigoo PC

The great mechanical resistance of Polycarbonate (PC, PC-Max, PC-ABS) makes it very interesting material for 3D printing FDM / FFF. Its high point of glass transition (Tg) further enhances its use but with one drawback, the adhesion to the base of the 3D printer is often complicated, especially when making large pieces. Magigoo PC ensures that prints stick firmly when the print base is hot and that the part is easy to remove once it cools. This unique and innovative mechanism of Magigoo avoids the use of tools to remove prints from the base, simply jump when the bed cools.

Magigoo PA

The Nylons (PA) are already common in the impressions of all types of users of a 3D FDM printer. This is due to the fact that this material has been key for years in the manufacture of parts in many sectors and that there are many filaments with a nylon base (PA12PA66 or PA6) reinforced with carbon or glass fibers (Nylon-Carbon Fiber CF15, XSTRAND GF30-PA6, etc). The Magigoo PA is an adhesive designed specifically for this type of material, which usually presents adhesion problems to the base, even when using powerful adhesives (3DLacDimaFixPrintFix or others) with hot base. In addition the Magigoo PA facilitates the separation of the piece once the base is cooled, needing a simple stop to remove the piece.

Magigoo HT

Magigoo HT is an adhesive for professional use, developed to facilitate the printing of filaments that need very high printing temperatures. Within this type of materials are filaments such as PEKK, PEEK, PEI and its variants with carbon fiber or glass fiber, advanced filaments with high mechanical properties, chemical properties and high dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. Due to the properties mentioned above, sectors such as the automotive and aerospace industry use these materials in critical applications such as high temperature parts, fluid conduits with chemical agents or mechanically resistant parts. The disadvantage of these advanced materials is their tendency to deformation during printing, especially to detach from the base and to the warping effect, inconveniences caused by their high extrusion point. Magigoo HT is the professional solution for printing and removing filaments such as PEKK, PEEK, PEI and its variants with carbon fiber or glass fiber easily from the base.

Magigoo Flex

The materials TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), TPE (Elastomer Thermoplastic) and TPC (elastomeric copolymer) are a group of rubber-like polymers used in 3D printing. These materials have the advantage of being able to be stretched, some up to 700 %, and recover the initial shape. In addition, they usually offer good thermal properties, dimensional stability, chemical resistance (hydrocarbons and alcohols) and high wear resistance. Everything mentioned above, together with its low cost, makes these materials widely used in all types of industrial applications. Some flexible filaments show difficulty adhering to conventional printing bases and tend to deform. The opposite occurs to other flexible filaments, their adhesion is so high that it may be the case that it is impossible to detach the piece from the base. Magigoo Flex is an adhesive for 3D printing bases that manages to solve these problems with a single product, giving sufficient adhesion during printing and facilitating the process of removing the part from the base, once it is cold.

Magigoo Pro Metal

Magigoo Pro metal is a version of Magigoo specifically developed to provide perfect adhesion with BASF's Ultrafuse metal filaments. It is the only bonding solution approved for use in BASF's debinding and sintering processes and like all other Magigoo solutions is non-hazardous, non-flammable and allows for easy removal of parts from the build plate once cooled.

The blend of polymers used as binders in BASF's metal filaments are prone to warping during cooling. This, coupled with the brittleness of the parts, makes it important to use a solution that provides very good adhesion when hot, but allows the part to be easily removed once the base cools to avoid deformation or breakage of the part. In addition, due to the nature of the thermochemical debinding process, it is essential to use approved products that do not contain flammable substances or substances that could interfere with the reaction.

Magigoo Pro Metal is compatible with Ultrafuse 316L and Ultrafuse 17-4PH from BASF.

The following explains how to use the Magigoo:

  1. First of all, make sure that the printing base is clean and free of traces of other adhesives.
  2. The pot of Magigoo is stirred for a few seconds so that the parts that make up the adhesive are mixed.
  3. Press the pot against the base, on the side of the applicator, until the liquid starts to come out.
  4. It only remains to extend the Magigoo through the area where the piece you want to print will be printed.

Once the 3D printing is finished and the base is cooled, the piece can be removed by applying force with just a finger. Finally, the area where the Magigoo has been applied with a damp cloth should be cleaned.
