    What is the TPE

    The TPE (Termpoplastic Elastomers), also known as thermoplastic rubber, is the result of the mixture of polymers, a plastic as a base and rubber as an alloy, which result in a material with thermoplastic and elastomeric properties. The degree of critical encruzamiento of the molecular structure of the TPE is the cause of the high level of elasticity, encruzamiento produced by the union dipole-dipole (hydrogen bridges or forces of Vander Waals). But when heating this material can be processed as a thermoplastic, which allows welding and reuse with simplicity.

    This material is much easier to shape and economical than conventional silicones and rubbers, since, on the contrary to those mentioned above, the TPE does not need long production times or specialized facilities. Its application extends to endless sectors, highlighting its use in construction (expansion joints or window insulation) and in the automotive industry (sleeves, dust covers, elastic washers or anti-vibration parts).

    FilaFlex: The most elastic and polyvalent material

    The Filaflex has a high elasticity, a smooth surface finish and a high coefficient of friction, a set of properties that make it a very used material in 3D printing. This material allows the manufacture of pieces that combine rigid parts and elastic parts in a single 3D printing thanks to the great adhesion power of the FilaFlex with other materials such as PLA, ABS, HiPS, Nylon, etc.

    FilaFlex is a non-toxic plastic but does not have the approval certificate to be in contact with food (FDA certificate). During the manufacture of the piece, this material does not give off odors or toxic gases, which allows the 3D printer to operate in closed spaces, such as in offices or studios. Due to the elasticity of the FilaFlex, it must be borne in mind that not all 3D printers are valid for use, since they need a direct type extruder system to avoid errors during manufacturing.
