Smartfil PETG (1.75mm or 2,85mm) is a thermoplastic copolyester filament (Polyethylene terephthalate glycol copolyester extrusion). Unlike PET filaments doesn´t crystallize when heated, so it has high hardness and flexibility in addition to its known chemical resistance and transparency.
PETG filaments are a modified version of the simplest PET; it is a non-toxic thermoplastic polymer used in the manufacture of clothing and vessel products. The PETG filaments are gaining popularity because of its low melting temperature and durability, so it is a good alternative to any ABS or Nylon.
PETG Smartfil (1.75mm or 2,85mm) filament has a 91% transparency similar to glass and very resistant natural state. It is also easy to print filament that has low shrinkage and does not require warm bed.
PETG Smartfil (1.75mm or 2,85mm) filament is accepted for use in contact with food products use (FDA) and also does not emit odors to be printed. The softening temperature or temperature resistance of PETG is 85 ºC, this is intermediate between the PLA and ABS.
The parts obtained with Smartfil PETG filament have similar mechanical properties to ABS both flexural and tensile or impact, but with the ease of PLA similar to printing. Moreover, the PETG Smartfil filament has a high resistance to chemicals and can get a print resolution with a wide range of printing temperatures.
Most companies perform engineering prototypes PLA or ABS to see if the "form and fitness design" are correct. However many times you want to make prototypes and to perform tests of strength (the main limiting factor is usually the tensile strength) and useful, but the basic filaments not permit; hence the PETG Smartfil filament has a reason for being.
The PETG filament was released as a new material in 3D printing offers greater tensile strength and offers a fair amount of elongation for functional prototypes.

Although the ideal temperature of Smartfil PETG can vary from 3D printer, the average is 240 °C. When printing at a temperature too high bubbles in print and may appear if printed with low temperature may have a completely opaque finish (The print range is between 210 °C to 250 °C). We recommend using the lower fans. Because it is important to adjust the ideal temperature depending on the extruder used.
The filament is suitable for any type of nozzle. As for the print speed is advisable to print the same as the ABS (about 40 mm/s) can be printed although slower for prints with better finish. Retraction for a nozzle of 0.5mm is 2.5mm; thus following this rule can be applied to any nozzle relationship. Also ideal bed temperature between 40-60 °C.
