Industrial Delta 3D printer with multiple hotend options, an inbuilt filament dryer and an HD camera.

The Mass Portal family of high quality industrial 3D printers includes the D600 open materials Delta 3D printer. It is a closed chamber 3D printer with a positioning accuracy of 6 µ, layer resolution of up to 50 µ, a build volume of Ø400 mm by 580 mm and a maximum printing speed of 250 mm/s. It is equipped with an all metal hotend, Dual Grip feeder and a Ø 0.4 mm nozzle suitable for 1.75 mm filaments, as well as automatic bed leveling, overheating protection and a filament runout sensor.

The most interesting thing about the D600 3D printer is the possibility to switch from Bowden to Direct extrusion, as well as switch the hotends and be able to 3D print a extremely wide range of materials with a maximum extrusion temperature of 475 ºC and the possibility to print 2 materials or 2 colors at the same time. The D600 3D printer has 4 different extrusion systems available:

This amount of hotend options available makes the D600 3D printer a very versatile and powerful tool, as it allows the user to 3D print a very broad range of materials, from PLA, ABS and flexibles to Nylon (PA), PC, HIPS, ASA, PET and even PEEK, with or without supports.

The all metal Dual Grip feeder featured in all 4 options significantly reduces the risk of filament slipping, allows for precise control of the feeding process and does not overheat during operation. Thanks to the inbuilt filament dryers, the D600 3D printer will also give great results with challenging moisture sensitive materials such as Nylon, PC and TPU.

BOWDEN DUAL EXTRUSION

The dual filament dryer integrated into the D600 3D printer operates on the rotating desiccant disk technology, just like the FD1 and FD5 filament dryers. The entering ambient air passes through filters and a rotating desiccant disk, thus getting pre-dehumidified. Next, it is heated, and it moves on to the filament spool, circulating it and drying it. The air, now containing humidity from the filament, passes through heaters on its way out. The heated air passes through the desiccant disk, regenerating the desiccant, and then it makes its way out, passing through filters once more. The dual dryer in the D600 3D printer can fit two 1 kg spools (Ø 200 mm x 80 mm)

User interface

The enclosed active (optional) chamber can reach a temperature of up to 80 ºC and is equipped with active air filters responsible for limiting the amount of escaping fumes and particles. The printing chamber is illuminated and closed with a tempered glass door. Closed printing chambers help reduce warping and improve printing results with materials such as ABS or Nylon. The build plate of the D600 3D printer is made of glass and it can heat up to a maximum temperature of 120 ºC in just 5 minutes.

The drying and 3D printing process can be managed through a straightforward touchscreen 7” HD user interface located on top of the 3D printer’s front. There the 3D printing and drying parameters can be chosen, edited and created. This can also be done with the help of the FabControl Platform, just like with all Mass Portal 3D printers and peripherals. Files can be transferred wirelessly using FTP, SMB or FabControl, through the USB connection of a memory stick.

The FabControl platform allows the user to store all printing and drying information in a centralized way, see the feed from the integrated HD web camera, as well as receive notifications. The FabControl platform also makes it possible to check the g-code on screen before printing and override it. It is also possible to access printing workflows with embedded slicing profiles. The D600 3D printer is automation ready, which means that thanks to the cloud system it can be highly automated and remotely managed, for example as part of a 3D printer farm.

The D600 industrial 3D printer by Mass Portal gives the user incredible freedom in terms of material choice, since the closed chamber, integrated filament dryers, and the number of hotend options available make the D600 3D printer capable of processing standard, engineering as well as advanced filaments, with or without supports. The D600 3D printer is fast, precise, easy to use, and it allows for full control of the 3D printing and drying process in various modes. The D600 3D printer will be a valuable addition to any industrial 3D printing workflow.

The glass printing bed of the D600 3D printer should be regularly cleaned to remove glue or filament residue. First, firm and even pressure should be applied with a scraper to remove solid residue. Next, the glass can be cleaned with warm soapy water but only if the build plate can be removed from the 3D printer. Otherwise, the build surface should be wiped with a cloth soaked with a small amount of IPA alcohol or acetone before each printing session. Thorough cleaning should be done approximately once a month or according to needs. Whenever IPA alcohol or acetone are handled, the user should wear protective gloves, not only to protect the user’s skin but also to avoid leaving greasy fingerprints on the glass build surface.

Adhesion of the 3D printed part to the glass printing surface can be improved with the application of the right adhesive product. The DimaFix or 3DLac adhesive sprays or the liquid adhesives with applicators such as Magigoo3DLac Stick or the Smart Stick, are some examples of the adhesion products compatible with the D600 3D printer. It should be kept in mind that adhesive sprays are not safe for air transport, and adhesive sticks should be chosen in their stead if air transport is required.
