High-volume Delta industrial 3D printer with two hotend options, configurable build height and HD camera.

The D1200 Delta 3D printer by Mass Portals belongs to their family of high quality open materials closed chamber industrial 3D printers. Similarly to other Mass Portal 3D printers, the D1200 can achieve a positioning accuracy of 6 µ, layer resolution of up to 50 µ, and a maximum printing speed of 250 mm/s. The D1200 printer is equipped with an all metal hotend available in two options, a Dual Grip all metal feeder and an Ø 0.8 mm nozzle compatible with 1.75 mm filaments. Some other attractive features are automatic bed leveling, overheating protection, a door safety switch and a filament runout sensor.

The impressive build volume of Ø 600 mm x 1000 mm allows for printing large parts in single uninterrupted sessions. The build height can be configured to 1200 mm, with a build diameter of Ø 350. The overall build volume than can be achieved with the D1200 3D printer is around 603 liters.

The most attractive feature of the D1200 3D printer is the possibility to switch the Direct hotend from the Pro to the HT version and be able to 3D print a extremely wide range of materials with a maximum extrusion temperature of 475 ºC. The D1200 3D printer has 2 different extrusion systems available:

HT Direct 1 475 ºC Liquid Compressed air (optional)

The possibility to change hotends expands the potential of the D1200 3D as it allows the user to 3D print standard as well as engineering and high performance thermoplastics, from PLAABS and flexibles to Nylon (PA)PCHIPSASAPET and even PEI, PEKK and PEEK (to mention only a few).

The feeder featured in both options drastically reduces the risk of filament slipping, allows for precise control of the feeding process and does not overheat during operation thanks to its all metal structure and Dual Grip technology.

The temperature inside of the chamber can reach up to 80 ºC with the active (optional) chamber. The air and active carbon filters help limit the amount of escaping fumes and particles, making the D1200 3D printer safe for the user and environmentally friendly. An external fume exhaust can also be connected via a port located on the back of the D1200 printer. The closed printing chamber, illuminated and closed with a tempered glass door, helps reduce warping and improve printing results with materials such as ABS or Nylon. The build plate of the D1200 3D printer is made of glass and it can heat up to a maximum temperature of 120 ºC in just 5 minutes.

The drying (if the Mass Portal filament dryers FD1 or FD5 are used) and 3D printing process can be managed through a straightforward touchscreen 7” HD user interface located on top of the 3D printer’s front or with the help of the FabControl Platform, just like with all Mass Portal 3D printers and peripherals. Files can be transferred wirelessly using WiFi, USB 2.0 or Ethernet.

The FabControl platform allows the user to store all printing and drying information in a centralized way, see the feed from the integrated HD web camera, as well as receive notifications. The FabControl platform also makes it possible to check the g-code on screen before printing and override it. It is also possible to access printing workflows with embedded slicing profiles. Similarly to the D600 3D printer, the D1200 can be highly automated and remotely managed thanks to the cloud system, for example as part of a 3D printer farm.

The D1200 industrial 3D printer by Mass Portal is equipped to provide a high quality and smooth 3D printing experience, with standard, engineering or high temperature materials. The closed chamber and all metal components enable the D1200 3D printer to work with otherwise problematic materials, and the many safety features allow the user to attend to other tasks while the D1200 printer does its job. The integrated FabCloud platform gives full control of the 3D printing and drying process in various modes. The D1200 3D printer will be a valuable addition to any industrial 3D printing workflow.

In order to improve adhesion of the 3D printed part to the glass printing surface of the D1200 3D printer, it is recommended to use adhesives in accordance with the polymer extruded. There are many adhesive products available for glass surfaces, for example the DimaFix or 3DLac adhesive sprays or the liquid adhesives with applicators - Magigoo3DLac Stick or the Smart Stick adhesives. Adhesive sticks with applicators are safer for air transport.

The glass printing bed of the D1200 3D printer should be regularly cleaned of any glue or filament residue with a scraper by applying firm and even pressure. The glass surface should be wiped before each printing session and cleaned thoroughly approximately once a month or according to needs. For that a cloth soaked with a small amount of IPA alcohol or acetone can be used. Protective gloves should always be used when handling IPA alcohol or acetone to protect the user’s skin as well as avoid leaving greasy fingerprints on the glass build surface. Glass printing surfaces can also be cleaned with warm soapy water but only if they can be removed from the 3D printer.
