Nylon with glass fiber for impact-resistant and durable parts for various sectors.

The PA12 GF15 filament is an advanced material by Fiberlogy, characterized by excellent durability and high impact resistance. Derived from Nylon PA12, this filament has been meticulously enhanced by the addition of 15% glass fiber (GF). This innovative approach results in a substantial boost in its overall durability, stiffness (3600 MPa), and resistance to both thermal (170 ºC) and chemical challenges when compared to pure Nylon.

What sets the PA12 GF15 apart from its counterparts like PA12 CF5 and PA12 CF15 (both featuring carbon fiber) is its greater flexibility. This makes it a prime candidate for applications operating under varying loads and frequent impacts. The PA12 GF15 filament also offers excellent dimensional stability with very low shrinkage, making it an ideal choice for achieving engineering excellence, even in a home setting. Notably, the PA12 GF15 filament doesn't need a heated chamber for successful printing; however, it is advisable to utilize steel or ruby nozzles due to its high abrasiveness to prevent excessive nozzle wear and ensure consistent results.

The PA12 GF15 Filament finds its applications in a multitude of industries, making it a versatile and valuable material. In the automotive sector, it excels in elements within the engine compartment, vehicle component housings, air intakes, and fluid fillers. For industrial applications, it's ideal for producing spare parts, short series production, and utility models. In the medical field, the filament is well-suited for creating prostheses and various medical equipment. In sports, it's a reliable choice for accessories, pads, and airsoft elements.

The ideal printing temperature for PA12 GF15 is between 255 ºC and 270 ºC on a heated bed at 90-110 ºC at a speed of 35-60 mm/s, with the layer fan set to 0-25% and the flow rate set to 90-100%. It is not necessary to print this filament in a closed chamber. The recommended retraction speed for PA12 GF15 is 20-45 mm/s, and the optimal retractions are 2-3 mm for direct extrusion and 4-6 mm for Bowden systems. The recommended printing surface is glass or PEI.

Due to the inclusion of glass fibers in the PA12 GF15 filament formula, it is highly recommended to use an abrasion-resistant nozzle when printing with this material, as using a standard nozzle will cause excessive abrasion and poor print quality. The best nozzles to use with PA12 GF15 filament are a hardened steel nozzle or a nozzle with a ruby tip.

The proper storage of PA12 GF15 filament is essential, as processing a wet filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It is best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer at 80 ºC for 4 hours before it can be extruded.
