Resistant and color-corrected biocompatible resin for Form 2 and Form 3B.

One of Formlabs' specialties are advanced high quality resins for applications in the dental sector. Dental resins are a great opportunity for dentists and orthodontists to agilize their workflow and achieve incredible precision in much less time and in a more affordable way.

The Dental LT Clear V2 Resin by Formlabs is a MDR certified (compliance with the requirements for European Union medical devices) class IIa long-term biocompatible resin based on Formlabs' proprietary formula. The Dental LT Clear V2 Resin was designed to be a reformulation of the Dental LT Clear Resin, with significant improvements in color and durability.

The Dental LT Clear V2 Resin has a 50% higher impact resistance than the Dental LT Clear Resin, and it is more resistant to brittling and fracturing. Furthermore, Formlabs has color-corrected the Dental LT Clear V2 Resin, which makes it yellow much less and slower (60% less yellowing) than the Dental LT Clear Resin. The Dental LT Clear V2 Resin 3D prints clear and it polishes to high optical transparency, similar to that of PMMA.

The Dental LT Clear V2 Resin is compatible with the Form 2 and Form 3B/3B+ 3D printers, the Form 2 LT, Form 3/3B V1/V2/V2.1, and the Form 3L/3BL V1 resin tanks, and the Form 3 Build Platform 2.

The Dental LT Clear V2 Resin is an improved and more affordable resin designed to 3D print high quality splints, occlusal guards and night guards. It allows professionals in the dental industry to manufacture in-house, in a personalized, faster and more affordable way, and to provide high quality and aesthetically pleasing products.

Parts 3D printed with the Dental LT Clear V2 Resin require post processing in order to ensure their optimal performance and biocompatibility of the 3D printed dental appliances. Washing should be done in the FormWash automated washing center (20 minutes in IPA). Parts 3D printed with the Dental LT Clear V2 Resin should be first washed for 15 minutes, then soaked in fresh isopropyl alcohol for the remaining 5 minutes. Leaving the parts in the IPA for longer than 20 minutes will result in lower quality of the parts due to excessive solvent exposure. It is also crucial to use separate wash buckets for biocompatible and non-biocompatible materials. As far as curing, it should be done with the help of the FormCure curing chamber (60 minutes at 60 ºC).

After each printing, the excess resin should be properly stored in order to ensure its longevity. Each FormLabs tank comes with a lid and it should be used for perfect closure. Once the tank is closed, it should be stored in the original box so that the resin doesn't lose its properties when exposed to UV rays for a long time. When stored correctly, the Dental LT Clear V2 Resin has a longevity of 24 months.

The tank’s cleaning recommendations should always be consulted before using any cleaning product that may damage the tank (for example, isopropyl alcohol) and result in failed prints. The tank should also be regularly cleaned from solid residues, otherwise a printing error may occur. Any solid pollutants can be removed with a spatula at a 45 º angle, like shown in a video provided by FormLabs.
