The PLA Multicolor Silk filament by Rosa3D stands out as a user-friendly, highly accurate, and odorless PLA filament, offering captivating color combinations with subtle tonal transitions, with 2 to 4 colour transitions per cycle. The colour transitions visible on the 3D printed part will largely depend on the size of the model and the density of the infill. The Multicolor Silk series from Rosa3D is an ideal choice for artists and crafters seeking to 3D print distinctive decorations, toys and gadgets featuring a silky finish and captivating color shifts.
Founded in 2018, Rosa3D is a leading Polish manufacturer of 3D printing filament, specializing in delivering top-tier quality for industrial, technical, large-format, and domestic applications. With ISO 9001:2015 certification, their experienced team and advanced machinery ensure meticulous control over material quality and production precision, boasting a monthly capacity of 70 tons. Beyond excellence in filament production, Rosa3D is committed to sustainability, adhering to ISO 14001:2015 principles.
PLA (Polylactic Acid) stands as a versatile and widely used material in 3D printing thanks to its low warping tendencies, great adhesion, low printing temperatures, vibrant color options and odor-free extrusion. Another benefit offered by PLA is its versatility in terms of surface finish. One of the many attractive surface finish of PLA is the silky finish achieved through the incorporation of additives or special processing techniques during the manufacturing process, resulting in a smooth and glossy surface finish of the 3D printed parts.
Some of the available colors in this PLA Multicolor series are Moon (navy blue black, graphite, moon steel), Jungle (succulent green and joyful brazilian yellow), or Candy (soft pink, blue and atlas white). All these colors have a glossy finish, reflect light beautifully and add visual softness to the 3D printed parts. One 1000g net spool holds almost 7 full colour cycles (1 colour cycle is 120-150g). It must be kept in mind that the frequency and sequence of colour transitions is fixed for a given production run. Therefore, a single spool may start from any point in the process, e.g., one spool may start with gold and another with green. Differences in shades are permissible.
The eco-friendly refill format significantly reduces plastic usage and contributes to paving a way for sustainable 3D printing. In order to use this PLA Multicolor Silk with a 3D printer, the filament must be wound onto the Rosa3D Masterspool, a smart solution designed specially for the Rosa3D filaments in refill format. This reusable masterspool is made of recycled PC and has an approximately 90 % lower CO2 carbon footprint compared to a standard plastic spool. The masterspool is also resistant to impact and heat, which makes it compatible with filament dryers, as well as AMS systems. Alternatively, solutions such as the F2P variable spool holder can be used.

The recommended printing temperature for the PLA Multicolor Silk filament ranges between 195-225 ºC, and the best bed temperature is 40-60 ºC. The recommended part cooling fan setting is 50-100 %.
Proper storage of the PLA Multicolor Silk filament is essential, as processing damp filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It's best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container.
Should the filament absorb excess humidity, it should be dried in a filament dryer for 4 hours at 50 ºC.
