PolyMax is a family of advanced 3D printing filaments produced with Polymaker's nano-reinforcement technology, to provide exceptional mechanical properties and print quality. One of the filament from this family is the PolyMax PETG ESD filament, a thermoplastic copolyester (extruded polyethylene terephthalate glycol copolyester) enriched with carbon nanotubes for electrostatic-dissipative properties.

Unlike PET filaments, PETG does not crystallize when heated, so it is very hard and flexible, in addition to its well-known chemical resistancelow melting temperature and durability, which makes PETG a good alternative to ABS or Nylon. The PolyMax PETG ESD filament goes further, as it offers better mechanical properties than any other standard PETG (enhanced toughness to offer improved impact strength). These properties, plus great thermal resistance, make PolyMax PETG ESD an excellent candidate for a wide range of applications even in the industrial sector, especially the electronics industry.

ESD events are quite common in everyday life and harmless to humans but highly risky and damaging in manufacturing operations involving electronic components, resulting in critical or latent damage. Parts printed with ESD filaments like the PolyMax PETG ESD act as a dissipator of the electrostatic discharge and safely "evacuate" it along the surface of the 3D printed piece, away from the sensitive electronics. ESD safe materials are also extremely useful in industries with potentially explosive atmospheres (petrochemical plants, coal mines, flour mills, areas with powder-based 3D printers).

PolyMax Tough PETG is the perfect material for the additive manufacturing of parts that require durability, toughness, thermal resistance, a certain degree of chemical resistance and, most importantly, electrostatic-dissipative properties. Some examples of what can be 3D printed with PolyMax PETG ESD are ESD-safe housings, jigs and fixtures in the electronics industry.

PolyMax PETG ESD should be properly stored to avoid the filament from getting humid. An ideal solution is to store it in a vacuum sealed packaging (with the Slice Engineering filament drying capsule for even better results), an intelligent filament container or in the PolyBox storage box that keeps the filament dry during printing. If the filament absorbs too much moisture, it should be dried at 65 ºC for 6 hours in a filament dryer

The recommended printing settings for the PolyMax PETG ESD filament are a 250-290 ºC extrusion temperature at a speed of 30-50 mm/s, on a bed heated to 70-80 ºC, with the layer fan turned on to a maximum of 20 %. The best printing surfaces for the PolyMax PETG ESD filament is a BuildTak surface and a PC film, covered with a thin layer of Magigoo for best results. More recommended printing parameters can be found in the product's technical datasheet in the Downloads section.
