Polymaker is a global company based in Shanghai that was born in 2013 from the work of four university students of Polymer Sciences, who have achieved important advances in their filaments, such as jam-free technology, in addition to an expansion throughout the world.
Its mission is to offer the best filaments of each material. For this they control the process from the raw material, collaborating with the best brands in the chemical industry, until the final finish of the filament. Its control is so high, that they check the roundness and the diameter of the filament thousands of times per second, and also, they perform a series of technologically very advanced processes, to verify that the material offers the maximum mechanical properties.
The PolyMax PLA is one of the most prominent and known products in the world manufactured by Polymaker.
The PLA is the most used material in 3D FDM printing, for the simplicity of use and good stability to make large pieces, but its mechanical properties are low and its use in technical or industrial applications is not recommended. To change this, Polymaker developed the PolyMax PLA, a PLA with properties similar to or even superior to most ABS in the market with the advantage of maintaining the PLA's ease of printing. In addition, this polymer has the technology "Free-Jam" that prevents jams occur, even when manufacturing with high speed and many retractions.
Polymaker has several high-level industrial materials, among which the PC-Max stands out. The standard PC (Polycarbonate) has characteristics of mechanical strength and even surface finish superior to the materials that are commonly used in the field of 3D printing (ABS or PLA), but with one drawback: its printing temperature is usually 300-320ºC, which limits its use to industrial 3D printers.
Polymaker has solved this problem by developing a high quality PC that can be used by most desktop 3D printers. This has been possible thanks to the fact that Covestro (new name of the well-known manufacturer Bayer, creator of polycarbonate) has collaborated with Polymaker, transmitting its knowledge, as well as polycarbonate in primary form, from which the Polymaker filament brand has improved the formula to adjust it to the requirements of 3D printing.
