PC CF is a high-performance 3D printing filament from Spectrum's line of basic filaments. It was engineered to offer exceptional mechanical strength and durability for industrial applications. Derived from the proven PC 275 filament, it incorporates 10% carbon fiber reinforcement, enhancing its stiffness and impact resistance. This makes PC CF an ideal choice for demanding engineering projects that require both strength and reliability.

The PC CF filament

This filament retains the key properties of PC 275, including excellent heat resistance, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 150 ºC. Additionally, it maintains strong UV resistance, ensuring long-term stability of printed parts even under exposure to outdoor conditions. Optimized for low shrinkage, PC CF provides precise printing with minimal risk of warping, delivering high dimensional stability and consistent results across a range of applications.

Applications

One of the standout features of PC CF is its ability to print large models without requiring a heated chamber, making it suitable for a wide range of FDM 3D printers. The incorporation of carbon fibre not only enhances the structural integrity of printed parts but also imparts an attractive matte finish, making it ideal for the production of professional prototypes, functional components, and industrial tools that demand both aesthetic appeal and robust performance.

With excellent resistance to moisture, chemicals, and abrasion, PC CF is perfectly suited for producing parts exposed to harsh operating environments. It is commonly used in industries such as automotive, electronics, sports equipment, and mechanical components, offering reliable and durable solutions for prototyping and functional applications in demanding fields.

Once opened, the PC CF filament must be stored properly to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the air. Filament is best stored in a hermetically sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum-sealed container or in a smart filament container. If the filament absorbs too much moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer for at least 6 hours at 75 ºC.

The manufacturer recommends printing PC CF filament at 270-290 °C on a bed heated to >80 °C. It is recommended to print at a speed of 30-70 mm/s with the layer fan at 0-20%. In case of adhesion problems, products such as MagigooDimaFix or 3DLac can be applied to the printing bed.

Since the PC CF filament contains carbon fibers, it is necessary to use an abrasion-resistant nozzle such as a hardened steel nozzle, a Vanadium nozzle, a tungsten carbide nozzle or a ruby tip nozzle, with a diameter of at least 0.4 mm.

It is strongly recommended to use standard safety equipment during printing and post-processing of 3D printed parts with PC CF filament: safety goggles, gloves, breathing apparatus and protective clothing as required.
