Fiber Three is a 3D printing materials manufacturer specialising in the development of technical filaments, specifically polyamide filaments. Within its catalogue of materials, we find reinforced filaments, such as the F3 PA-CF Lite filament, a polyamide filament with carbon fibre loading.

Nylon (PA) is undoubtedly one of the most widely used materials at a technical level in FDM 3D printing. This is because this material meets the mechanical requirements for demanding applications in various industries, whether for prototyping or manufacturing functional end parts.

F3 PA-CF Lite technical filament has a polyamide base and 15 % carbon fibre filler, the latter reducing shrinkage and warping. The material exhibits excellent strength, impact and tensile strength and good wear resistance. In addition, it has excellent adhesion to the base and features an excellent matt black surface finish.

This filament is recommended for parts with good heat resistance where light weight or high strength is important.

The major difference in the printing process with the professional grade F3 PA-CF Pro is that it is less sensitive to moisture and requires more heat input into the hotend for proper layer adhesion.

The use of wear resistant nozzles is recommended. The material must be kept dry for reliable printing results in all conditions, therefore we recommend the use of F3 Safe, Fiber Three's drying cases that allow the material to be stored and kept free of moisture even during the printing process.

When 3D printing polyamide-based materials such as F3 PA-CF Lite filament, certain factors must be taken into account, as it is a hygroscopic material. This means that it is a material with a tendency to absorb moisture from the surrounding environment.

The use of a filament with moisture can directly affect the quality of the parts and the mechanical properties of the material. Therefore, in addition to working with a 3D printer that has the right characteristics for 3D printing nylon filament, the user must store and handle the filament in the right conditions. For this reason, the manufacturer recommends using the F3 Safe drying case both to store the material and to keep it free of moisture during the 3D printing process.

Due to the carbon fibre content of this filament it is recommended to use hardened steel nozzlesVanadium or a ruby nozzle. The use of a standard brass nozzle is not recommended for this material, as carbon fibre is abrasive and degrades standard nozzles, even modifying the nozzle's output diameter.

The manufacturer Fiber Three offers the user different printing profiles to use this material with some of the most widely used FDM 3D printer models currently in use, such as Prusa I3 MK3S+ or the different models of Raise3D, Ultimaker or Zortrax.
