Infinite Material Solutions is an American company specialising in the development of innovative materials for FFF 3D printing. Unlike other manufacturers, Infinite Material Solutions only includes in its catalogue materials that are unique in the market and that provide added value over other available alternatives.

With this philosophy, they have developed the Aquasys range, two water-soluble support materials that together have the highest compatibility on the market.

There are currently multiple water-soluble material alternatives available, most of them based on PVA or BVOH, however, they all have one thing in common: their poor compatibility limited to a few low temperature materials.

On the other hand, in the case of high temperature materials or materials that require a heated chamber, the best alternative is the new alkaline-soluble materials such as PolyDissolve S2, which are not directly soluble in water, but require the use of an activator such as 3DWash.

AQUASYS 120 is an innovative new generation support material based on a blend of a water-soluble polymer and a polysaccharide known as trehalose. This blend provides a material with high thermal stability while maintaining sufficient flexibility, ductility and strength to be extruded and 3D printed.

It is a hydrophilic, biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic filament. This is why its residues do not pose any environmental risk, which makes its use as a soluble support material even more interesting.

AQUASYS 120 prints at temperatures between 220 ºC - 245 ºC and withstands maximum base temperatures of 130 ºC and chamber temperatures of 120 ºC, which together with its good adhesion to both hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers makes it compatible with a wide range of materials. It can be used with PLA, NylonCPE, ABSASA, TPU, PC, PC-ABSPP or PETG, making it the most versatile support material on the market.

Its high compatibility is not its only advantage, it also has one of the best solubility rates. AQUASYS 120 dissolves twice as fast as PVA in water at room temperature and up to six times faster in hot water (80°C).

AQUASYS 120 combines excellent compatibility, ease of use and environmental safety, making it one of the best options to combine with most commonly used engineering materials.

AQUASYS 120 is highly hygroscopic, so it should be stored in an airtight container with desiccant and the use of a device such as Printdry II is recommended during printing. In case it picks up excess moisture, it can be dried at 70-80 °C for 8h.

It can be dissolved directly in tap water at any temperature, however the maximum solubilisation rate is reached at 80 ºC.
