Easy-to-print ASA for UV, heat and moisture resistant parts.

This ASA filament by Fiberlogy is a great solution for 3D printing applications where the part is exposed to diverse weather conditions. Crafted with a robust composition, this filament stands out for its exceptional resilience against UV exposure, high temperatures reaching up to 94 ºC, and moisture. Its remarkable mechanical and thermal endurance surpasses that of ABS filament, making it a sought-after choice in various industries, particularly in automotive manufacturing and the production of everyday items. Boasting enduring colors, unparalleled durability, and a resistance to temperatures that sets it apart, ASA filament assures prolonged functionality and stability for all 3D printed models created with it.

ASA filament embodies an array of commendable properties that elevate its printing capabilities and usability. Thanks to its significantly reduced shrinkage compared to ABS, ASA doesn't require a heated chamber for successful printing, although it's recommended for optimal results. This advanced formulation emits notably fewer odors during printing, ensuring a more comfortable and pleasant user experience. Its diminished shrinkage, enhanced adhesion, and minimal warping and cracking tendencies contribute to maintaining the precise dimensions and stability of the 3D prints, ensuring superior quality and consistency.

Moreover, Fiberlogy ASA filament opens avenues for post-processing customization, offering flexibility for model refinement and enhancement. Its compatibility with acetone facilitates smoothing, sanding, painting, and adhesive processes, allowing for meticulous finishing touches and modifications. This versatility extends its application spectrum across diverse sectors, including automotive, sports, home and garden, as well as electronics, where it serves as a reliable material for crafting components, accessories, tools, and everyday items, showcasing its adaptability and utility across various domains.

What makes the Fiberlogy ASA filament truly versatile is that it has been favorably assessed to be part of the Open Filament Program by Raise3D. This makes it possible to extrude this filament on the Pro3 printer.

The ideal printing temperature for ASA is between 255 ºC and 270 ºC on a heated bed at 90-110 ºC at a speed of 100 mm/s, with the layer fan set to 0-25% and with the flow rate set to 90-100%. It is not necessary to print this filament in a closed chamber, but exposure to drafts should be avoided. The recommended retraction speed for PCTG is 20-45 mm/s, and optimal retractions are 1-2 mm for direct extrusion and 4-6 mm for Bowden systems. It is advisable to print this material on glass with Kapton tape.

The proper storage of ASA filament is essential, as processing a wet filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It is best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer at 60 ºC for 4 hours before it can be extruded.
