PLA filament with 15 % of TiO₂ nanoparticles. Suitable for catalytic/photocatalytic applications.

The FEco TiO₂ filament is a material with a PLA matrix and 15 % (volume) of titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The TiO₂ particles have a large specific surface area (52.3 m2/g) and high content of anatase phase (anatase:rutile 80:20). The 15 % of TiO₂ in this filament gives it a kinetics constant of 6.57 10 -2 h -1 (3 ppm NM pH2).

FEco TiO₂ belongs to the FEco family of materials by Colfeed4Print which includes various photo- and electroactive materials for the 3D printing of multidirectional and customized interconnected structures with specific photo- and electrochemical activity.

The FEco TiO₂ filament itself is suitable for use as an effective filter in many catalytic and photocatalytic applications. The TiO₂ nanoparticles have a size of 90 nm and are homogeneously dispersed in the PLA base thanks to the colloidal approach used to prepare the feedstock.

The FEco TiO₂ filament is easily printable via the FFF 3D printing technology as it doesn't cause any clogging issues. To avoid potential warping and adhesion issues, Colfeed4Print recommends the use of 1 or 2 skirts around the part.

The FEco TiO₂ filament is delivered in a vacuum sealed bag with desiccant. Once opened, the filament should be stored properly to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the air. The best way to store filaments in a tightly sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum sealed container or in an intelligent filament container. It is recommended to dry the filament before printing at 40-60°C for 2 minutes.

The manufacturer recommends printing FEco TiO₂ filament at 160-170 ºC on a bed heated to 30-60 ºC at a speed of 20-50 mm/s. The use of 1 or 2 skirts around the part (equal to the printing speed) will improve the adhesion of the part to the print bed. More printing tips can be found in the User Guide document in the Downloads section.

It is highly recommended to wear standard safety equipment during the printing and post-processing of parts 3D printed with the FEco TiO₂ filament - safety goggles, gloves, breathing equipment and protective garments, according to needs.
