Impact PLA from the Fiberlogy portfolio of 3D printing filaments offers properties that are on par with or even superior to ABS filaments (50 % higher impact resistance), all while maintaining the ease and security of the printing process typically associated with traditional PLA. This technical filament stands out due to its exceptional resistance to cracking and breaking, thanks to its remarkable high impact strength (800 % higher than standard PLA). Additionally, Impact PLA exhibits a higher tolerance to elevated temperatures, making it an excellent choice for 3D prints that will endure extreme conditions without compromising on intricate detail.

Some of the recommended applications for this material include but are not limited to:

  • Toys or toy parts - blocks, works, etc.
  • Prototypes - tools, conceptual models, switching parts, mechanical parts, elements requiring resistance to higher temperatures.
  • Spare parts - elements of machines, devices, vehicles, electronic equipment.
  • Tools or tool components - gears, racks, elements requiring high strength.

Furthermore, Fiberlogy's Impact PLA has received positive recognition in the Open Filament Program (OFP) project by Raise3D, underscoring its quality and reliability. The Impact PLA filament can be 3D printed on the E2CF 3D printer. The filament's ability to provide precise reproduction of intricate details and maintain excellent adhesion ensures 3D printing projects of the highest quality, meeting the demands of professionals and enthusiasts alike. With Impact PLA, the 3D prints will be both resilient and visually impressive, making it a valuable addition to the world of 3D printing materials.

The ideal printing temperature for Impact PLA is between 220 ºC and 245 ºC on a heated bed at 50-70 ºC at a speed of 100 mm/s, with the layer fan set to 75-100 % and the flow rate set to 90-100 %. It is not necessary to print this filament in a closed chamber. The recommended retraction speed for Impact PLA is 20-45 mm/s, and the optimal retractions are 2-3 mm for direct extrusion and 4-6 mm for Bowden systems. The recommended printing surface is glass with Kapton tape.

The proper storage of Impact PLA filament is essential, as processing a wet filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It is best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer at 50 ºC for 4 hours before it can be extruded.
