The PETG ESD filament by Nanovia is their second ESD filament apart from Nanovia ABS ESD. PETG ESD is a composite material with a PETG base and ceramic particles and unlike most carbon based ESD filaments, the Nanovia PETG ESD filament doesn't leave any residue in the case of friction (ideal for clean rooms) and does not cause excessive nozzle wear.

This filament's antistatic properties come from the integration of conductive ceramic charges. These allow for the gradual evacuation of accumulated static electricity generated by electronic components and friction along the surface of an object 3D printed with the Nanovia PETG ESD filament. ESD-safe materials are indispensable in environments where the sudden discharge of electrostatic energy could can cause damage to sensitive electronical components or even an explosion of volatile powders.

With tools, jigs, fixtures and storage containers 3D printed with the Nanovia PETG ESD filament, instant or latent damage to sensitive electronic devices can be avoided. Thanks to this filament's good heat resistance, parts printed with PETG ESD can house circuit boards and components that heat up to 80 °C when operating.

The Nanovia PETG ESD filament is easy to print, does not require a heated chamber (although it can be used), and is compatible with most commercially available FFF 3D printers. It is of utmost importance that parts printed with the PETG ESD filament are not painted as this could inhibit the material's antistatic properties.

The Nanovia PETG ESD filament is delivered in a vacuum sealed bag with desiccant. Once opened, the filament should be stored properly to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the air. The best way to store filaments in a tightly sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum sealed container or in an intelligent filament container. During printing, the filament can be placed in a filament drying device. If the PETG ESD filament absorbs humidity, it should be dried before printing at 60 ºC for 4 hours or longer.

The manufacturer recommends printing the PETG ESD filament at 245-255 ºC on a bed heated to 85-90 ºC. It is recommended although not necessary to use a printer with a heated chamber (PETG ESD needs 20 ºC).

It is highly recommended to wear standard safety equipment during the printing and post-processing of parts 3D printed with the Nanovia PETG ESD filament - safety goggles, gloves, breathing equipment and protective garments, according to needs.
