Special materials specifically designed for high-speed 3D printing represent a significant innovation in additive manufacturing. High-speed filaments complement high-speed 3D printers, extruders, and nozzles, truly enabling the exploitation of rapid 3D printing technologies. High-speed filaments facilitate faster print speeds without sacrificing print quality. This, in turn, accelerates the printing process, significantly reducing the time needed to complete objects, enhancing overall productivity, and proving especially beneficial for large-scale prints or scenarios demanding rapid production.

One such material is PLA High Speed manufactured by R3D. R3D, founded in 2013, is one of the world's largest filament manufacturers, with a daily production of over 8000 kg. Their materials are high quality, reliable, and environmentally friendly due to the reel and box made from recycled material. The PLA High Speed filament is characterized by its high rigidity and strength, along with excellent flow characteristics, outstanding hydrolysis resistance, and high heat resistance in short printing cycles.

Thanks to the advanced design of this material, the mechanical properties of 3D printed parts (a 22% elongation at break, a tensile strength of 61 MPa, a flexural strength of 73 MPa, and an impact strength of 8.8 kJ/m) are guaranteed even at high print speeds. It must be kept in mind that in order to print at high speeds with this material it is required to use a high speed 3D printer. Some great options are the Creality K1/K1 Max, the Bambu Lab X1 or P1 series, the Elegoo Neptune 4/4 Pro, the AnkerMake M5 or the Prusa MK4.

The recommended printing temperature for the PLA High Speed filament ranges between 200 and 220 ºC, and the best bed temperature is 40-60 ºC.

Proper storage of the PLA High Speed filament is essential, as processing damp filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It's best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container. It is recommended to pre-dry the filament before use for 4-6 hours at 45 ºc in the R3D D1 dryer or other filament dryer.
