The Fiberlogy ABS filament in masterspool format has the same properties as the Fiberlogy ABS filament. It stands out for its exceptional durability, remarkable hardness, superior impact resistance, as well as resilience against high temperatures and abrasion.

The masterspool format helps save resources and reduce the environmental impact of the filament, but it requires the use of a spool holder. It is possible to download models of detachable spools ready for 3D printing, but sometimes these detachable spools do not adapt well to the dimensions of the masterspool. In these cases, it is very useful to use a variable sized spool holder that automatically adjusts to the inside diameter of the masterspool. For instructions on how to use the variable spool holder, please refer to the section "Usage Tips".

The Fiberlogy ABS finds extensive use in production, particularly for prototyping rigid elements like linking components requiring high-temperature resistance, durable tools such as gears and racks, various gadget parts like phone cases and keychains, as well as in crafting final use parts like toys like bricks, robotic elements, and car components. These properties render ABS as a material capable of withstanding mechanical and chemical processes, ensuring its adaptability across multiple industries.

If using the variable spool holder, the following guidelines should be considered:

  1. The variable spool holder operates very simply. Simply compress the product directly with your hands, insert it into the masterspool, and release it to regain its original shape.
  2. At that point, take one end of the filament and place it in the holding slot. This will secure the beginning of the masterspool. These slots also serve to hold the filament end each time a print is completed, preventing possible filament overlaps.

To ensure optimal print quality, it is necessary to select the appropriate settings for each 3D printer, considering the printing conditions. The recommended printing temperature ranges between 250 and 265 ºC, and the best bed temperature is 90 to 110 ºC (Kapton tape on glass). The layer fan should be set between 0 and 10%, and the flow rate between 95 and 105%. The recommended print speed is 35 to 60 mm/s. The ideal retraction speed is between 20 and 45 mm/s, with 2 to 3 mm retraction for direct extrusion and 4 to 6 mm retraction for Bowden.

Proper storage of ABS filament is essential, as processing damp filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It's best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer at 60 ºC for 4 hours before it can be extruded.
