A machinable UV resistant filament with a marble finish, ideal for architecture and design.

Treed Filaments is an Italian filament manufacturer with a catalog including specialized, affordable and reliable high quality materials for applications as diverse as electrics, industrial, technical, orthopedics, flexible, biodegradable and, lastly, architecture. One of the materials in the architecture family is the Treed Monumental filament, designed especially for applications in 3D printing for architecture, design and archaeology.

The Treed Monumental filament is a special polymer blend containing marble powder to recreate the finish and touch of real marble. Another exciting feature of the Monumental filament is its UV resistance which makes it suitable for outdoor use. The Monumental filament does not exhibit signs of warping and it can be post-processed with sandpaper and water.

This procedure will not only conceal 3D printing layers, imperfections and support marks but also accentuate the marble-like tactile feeling. Nevertheless, as opposed to the Treed Monumental Evo filament, the Monumental filament does not change color to aged marble when sanded.

The ideal applications for the Treed Monumental filament are in the fields of architecture, design, art and archaeology for the 3D printing of interior and exterior decorations, set props, the recreation of antique artifacts, or even the crafting of costume jewelry or clothing details for movie sets. The ease of printing, UV resistance and processability make the Treed Monumental filament a truly versatile and user friendly material that with the help of additive manufacturing can be transformed into something unique and inspiring or even contribute to the preservation and restoration of patrimony and museum artifacts.

In order to avoid the devastating effects of humidity, the Treed Monumental filament should be stored in a dry place, for example in a resealable vacuum bag with a Slice Engineering drying capsule, in a PrintDry filament container or in a Fiber Three filament drying case. The Monumental filament is hygroscopic and if it does absorb too much humidity, the quality of the filament and the 3D prints will be negatively affected. To obtain best results the manufacturer recommends drying the Monumental filament at 70° for 2 hours before use.

For optimal results, the Treed Monumental filament should be 3D printed at 60-70 mm/s at 220-240 ºC, on a build plate heated to 90-125 ºC. The Monumental filament does not have tendency to warp and generally has good adhesion. Nevertheless, should adhesion and warping issues occur, the user should check if the build plate is leveled and the bed temperature is correctly set. If the leveling and temperature are correct, it is recommended to use Blue Tape or Kapton Tape, or install a BuildTak printing surface to help the Monumental filament properly adhere to the build surface. Another warping prevention measure would be to use the "brim", "skirt" or "raft" parameter in the slicing software.
