The PC-ABS is the creation of Proto-Pasta, an experienced company dedicated to the manufacture of special filaments such as PLA ConductivePLA-Carbon Fiber, PLA-Stainless SteelPLA Magnetic or Copper HTPLA.

The PC-ABS mixes the good of each material that composes it, to obtain a high performance material. On the one hand, the Polycarbonate (PC) offers high impact resistance and great rigidity, typical qualities of this material. On the other hand, the ABS transmits to this filament greater processing facility than the PC (Polycarbonate). Finally, the union of the two materials improves the resistance to heat, being one of the filaments more resistant to deformation by the temperature of the market

For satisfactory and trouble-free 3D printing, the recommended extrusion temperature is 270-290ºC. This temperature is higher than the maximum of certain 3D printers but thanks to the PT100 Upgrade Kit it's possible to get that temperature, even values close to 400ºC. The PT100 Upgrade Kit is a set of components (PT100, amplifier plate and heater block v6) developed by E3D to achieve high extrusion temperatures with almost any 3D printer. The recommended base temperature is 110-140ºC, always accompanied by a fixation method such as BuidTak, Magigoo or some other (MagigooDimaFixPrintaFix, 3DLac or SmartStick) to avoid the warping effect, especially in pieces with a base dimension greater than 60mm that due to their size are prone to detach from the base due to the accumulation of internal tensions that lead to buckling of the first layers.

The PC-ABS is very sensitive to the absorption of moisture, which is why it's necessary to dry it before using it. To perform the drying you can use the PolyBox, a filament storage box that removes moisture semi-automatically. If this tool is not available, the filament must be dried in another way (domestic oven) for 1 hour at 85-95ºC.

This improved ABS is incredibly strong, making it ideal for parts that need to withstand large impacts for long periods of time. It's a material widely used by this in the automotive and electronics industry.

Use as starting parameters temperature of the extruder 260ºC and of the base 120ºC, from there adjust the configuration to your 3D printer. Adhesion between layers can be a problem if the temperature is below 260°C. Using a HotEnd temperature of 260-280ºC with a nozzle of 0.50mm, it's possible to print 60mm long pieces without any problem. To ensure adhesion to the base, a temperature of 120ºC combined with BuildTak, Magigoo or some other fixing product (DimaFix, PrintaFix3DLac or SmartStick) should be used.
