An auto-bed leveling sensor, collision detector and basic Z axis endstop switch.

The Horizon automatic bed levelling (ABL) sensor by Dyze Design was designed for high-performance professional 3D printing. It transforms the nozzle into a very sensible force sensor, making the Z-homing of the printing bed very accurate and eliminating the risk of damaging the printer. Thanks to its high sensitivity and fast reaction time, the Horizon sensor will protect the nozzle and printing surface by stopping the movement as soon as contact is made.

With the Horizon ABL sensor, the levelling can be done even when the nozzle is hot, which reduces the risk of distorted callibration caused by thermal expansion of the solidified plastic that is still in the nozzle. With repeatability of less than 5 μm (up to 0.4 μm with a very stable printer), the calibration will always give the same results. Horizon also enables the Z-offset to be automatically adjusted, without the need for firmware updates.

Apart from being a bed-levelling sensor, Horizon can also be used as a basic Z axis endstop switch (see configuration tips) or in contexts where a sensitive force sensor for the 3D printer is needed thanks to the analog output option. The Horizon ABL sensor can be plugged into an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in order to monitor the force with an external controller. It should be kept in mind that this feature is experimental and not mandatory for the correct functioning of the Horizon ABL sensor.

The Horizon ABL sensor is mounted with M3 screws directly onto the extruder or with the help of a bracket

The Horizon ABL sensor is compatible with different types of extruders, for example the DyzeXtruder GT or the DyzeXtruder Pro extruders, as well as the E3D Hemera or E3D Titan extruders or the BondTech BMG extruders (with the help of the included mounting bracket). The Horizon sensor takes up no extra space around your extrusion head since it is mounted right between your carriage and extruder/hotend.

The complete detailed guide on how to mount, wire and configure the Dyze Horizon sensor can be found on the manufacturer's website.
