Rapid manufacture of parts, maintaining the mechanical and surface properties.

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is the plastic most used in the industrial sector when creating external parts that will be constantly manipulated. Its good mechanical properties, hardness, resistance to certain chemical elements, thermal stability and rigidity are used to make parts with a wide range of applications, such as power tool housings.

All the advantages discussed above are present in the zABS resin. In addition, others are present such as the rapid manufacture of parts, maintaining the mechanical and surface properties. The pieces made with zABS resin have a smooth and matt surface finish, ideal for analyzing prototypes in detail. On the other hand, this finish facilitates a post-processing of painting directly.

The LED-LCD technology used by UniZ joins the other two technologies of 3D resin priniters already known, SLA and DLP. Its operation is similar to DLP, solidifying each layer in a single beam of light, but in the case of 3D LED-LCD printers, a set of LEDs with a wavelength of 405 nm illuminates an LCD screen that lets the beam pass through of light with the shape of the layer that is being manufactured.

The resin zABS for 3D printing LED-LCD of UniZ is available in a wide range of colors to cover the different demands that a user may have. The colors currently available are: Ivory, White, Gray, Green and Amber Yellow. It is recommended to consult the technical data sheet of this product, since within the range of colors there are variations in the mechanical properties.

The bottle of this UV resin has a volume of 500 ml and a system of operation by suction. This system, combined with the pump of the SLASH 3D resin printer, allows to discharge and load the resin in the bottle, which is very useful when storing the resin. It is recommended to store the resin in the bottle if a time of non-operation of more than three days is estimated, for that simply press the button to load the bottle in the rolling software until the tank is without resin, place the stopper in the aeration hole and remove the bottle. To complete the cycle, it is necessary to clean the circuit with the cleaning bottle with isopropyl alcohol inside.

Once an impression is finished, the piece should be removed from the base with the metal spatula that is included with the printer. Then the piece is immersed in IPA for 5-15 minutes to remove the uncured resin from the outer walls of the piece. After that time, pressurized air must be applied on the piece until it is completely dry. To achieve the maximum properties that the zABS resin can provide, it is necessary to cure the resin for 10 minutes in a curing center (Form Cure) having a wavelength of 405 nm.

Before removing parts from the manufacturing base, the user must be equipped with a series of safety measures. It is recommended the use of gloves to prevent the resin and alcohol from coming into contact with the skin, it is also crucial to use safety glasses for the drops that may originate during the washing of the pieces.
