In order to unlock the full potential of the Prusa Mini/Mini+ 3D printerSlice Engineering has elaborated the Prusa Mini Upgrade Kit with the famous Copperhead hotend. Slice Engineering are very well known in the 3D printing industry for solutions that drastically improve 3D printer performance by means of premium engineering-grade components.

The result of upgrading a 3D printer with a Slice Engineering Upgrade Kit is less downtime, less wasted filament on failed prints, less tinkering, increased throughput, and higher resolution. This is also the case for the Prusa Mini Upgrade Kit. The Prusa Mini Upgrade Kit includes the Copperhead hotend (and the IFS extruder if chosen) and all the accessories necessary for the installation of the Upgrade Kit:

The only tools that are not included but will be required for the installation of the Upgrade Kit are some hex keys (1.5 mm, 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm), an adjustable wrench and a 7 mm wrench. A complete installation guide for the Prusa Mini Upgrade Kit is provided on the Slice Engineering website.

Upon purchase, the user can choose between two variants of the Upgrade Kit:

  1. The Prusa Mini Upgrade Kit with the Copperhead hotend.
  2. The Prusa Mini Upgrade Kit with the Copperhead hotend and the Bondtech IFS extruder.

Upgrade Kit with Copperhead hotend

The version without the Bondtech IFS extruder only includes the Copperhead hotend. The Copperhead is an open source all-metal hotend that combines ease of use and a plug-and-play design with exceptional performance. Thanks to the innovative bimetal heat break technology (a low-wall thickness inner tube made of surgical stainless steel with two copper alloy outer elements for excellent thermal conductivity), a better differentiation between the cold and hot zones is achieved, leading to a decreased likelihood of heat creep.

Furthermore, as a result of the excellent internal machining the risk of jamming is also significantly reduced. To further boost the Copperhead hotend's performance, a nickel coating was added to prevent corrosion and plastic from sticking to the hotend.

Upgrade Kit with Copperhead hotend and Bondtech IFS extruder

This option is for those who are looking for a great extruder upgrade to complement the Prusa Mini Hotend Upgrade Kit. This variant comes with the Bondtech IFS dual drive extruder equipped with the Internal Filament Sensor (IFS) that can be installed inside the extruder for a cleaner and more organized look or easily removed and put back in at any time.

Bondtech's dual-drive technology ensures that filament will not slip or grind as it moves to the upgraded Copperhead hotend. The IFS extruder also allows for the use of abrasive materials, has adjustable tension and a quick material release system that allows for very fast and easy material change.
