Ultracur3D UV Adhesion Promoter

BASF-UC-ADHESION-PROMOTER

Certain rigid 3D printing materials, such as PA and PP, may resist coating due to poor adhesion. This challenge in post processing can be remedied by using the BASF Ultracur3D UV Adhesion Promoter.

It is a solvent-borne UV-Primer that improves adhesion of the final topcoat to rigid 3D printing materials by smoothing the rough (pores, pinholes) or uneven surface of a treated part when applied multiple times with intermediate drying phases.

With the Ultracur3D UV Adhesion Promoter there is no need to develop or replace existing coating systems, as the Adhesion Promoter is compatible with most commercial topcoats, clearcoats, 2 component fillers and primers. The Adhesion Promoter can be applied in two ways - by means of the dip method or the spray method.

The possible applications of the Ultracur3D UV Adhesion Promoter are in the automotive sector, in the interiors and exteriors of cars, and in the consumer goods industry.

The Adhesion Promoter can be applied in two ways - by means of the dip method or the spray method. Regardless of the method used, the part to be treated should always be clean and free of dust, rust, wax, oil and grease before applying the Ultracur3D Adhesion Promoter.

If the surface smoothness of the part is not satisfactory after the first coat, the process can be repeated up to 4 times. After each application, the part must be cured in a UV intermediate drying process to the point that the surface is not sticky anymore.

If a spray gun is used, it should always be cleaned before use, for example with Isopropanol. The Adhesion Promoter should be sprayed with a HVLP spray gun at a 0.8-1.5 bar pressure with a 0.8-1.3 mm nozzle. The maximum recommended film thickness is 70 μm.
