The 0.3 mm stainless steel feeler gauge is a precision measuring tool designed to facilitate the calibration of Raise3D 3D printers, especially models like E2, E2CF, Pro3, and Pro3 Plus. This gauge is primarily used to accurately set the gap between the nozzle and the print bed surface during the Z-axis height adjustment routine, which is essential for achieving a correct first layer and avoiding print failures caused by miscalibration.

Made of high-quality stainless steel, the 0.3 mm gauge offers corrosion resistance and excellent dimensional stability, ensuring reliable measurements even after repeated use. The choice of 0.3 mm as the standard thickness aligns with Raise3D's recommended calibration procedures, where this measurement serves as a reference distance between the nozzle tip and the bed to precisely establish the printing start point.

This thickness gauge is often used during Z-axis calibration routines, where the printer guides the process step by step, and the gauge is placed under the nozzle to check and adjust the distance until the proper friction is felt when moving the tool. Using a precision gauge like this reduces variability in manual calibration, providing a reproducible baseline for consistently achieving a well-adhered first layer.

Due to its size and specifications, this gauge can also be used for other mechanical measurements in precision equipment maintenance, although its primary application in the context of Raise3D is as a reference tool during initial setup or after changes to the hotend or Z-axis-related components.

General information

Manufacturer Raise3D

1. Calibration verification before use
Before starting the adjustment, check that the gauge surface is clean and free of deformation. Any residue, burr, or wear can alter the measurement and cause errors in the Z height or sensor positioning.

2. Insertion without excessive pressure
The gauge must slide with slight controlled friction between the surfaces to be calibrated (for example, nozzle-bed or sensor-reference). Excessive pressure produces temporary deformations that invalidate the measurement.

3. Use in cold or stable conditions
Perform the measurement when the components are in stable thermal conditions or according to the manufacturer’s calibration procedure. Thermal variations of the hotend or bed may slightly modify dimensions and affect accuracy.

4. Careful handling of stainless steel
Although stainless steel offers high wear resistance, bending the gauge or using it as a lever may alter its nominal thickness. It must be handled only as a measuring element.

5. Protected storage
Storing the gauge in its sleeve or protective case prevents scratches and dust accumulation, factors that can introduce micrometric errors in critical calibrations.

6. Periodic checks during maintenance
In industrial or continuous production equipment, it is recommended to periodically verify adjustments performed with the gauge (Z offset, reference sensors, mechanical alignment) to ensure dimensional repeatability in prints.
