The Fiberon ASA-CF08 filament combines the UV resistance and thermal stability properties of ASA with the structural rigidity provided by carbon fiber. It is a composite material for 3D printing optimized for demanding applications where outdoor durability, dimensional accuracy, and aesthetic finish are key requirements. Mechanical and thermal properties

The thermal and mechanical behavior of ASA-CF08 positions it as a high-performance filament. The heat deflection temperature (HDT) reaches 103 °C, offering stability in applications exposed to moderate heat. The Young’s modulus in dry conditions is 3,611.66 MPa, evidencing the structural rigidity provided by carbon fiber. Tensile strength in the XY plane is 43.51 MPa and in Z 24.95 MPa, while notched Charpy impact strength in XY reaches 5.46 kJ/m². The flexural modulus reaches 3,264.99 MPa in XY and 1,743.42 MPa in Z. All values come from tests performed on printed parts under controlled conditions.

The asa-cf08 filament is recommended to print on 3d printers with closed chamber to reduce warping and cracks. the optimal printing temperature is 260–280 °c and the print bed should be kept between 90–100 °c. for consistent parts, it is advised to use a wear resistant nozzle, such as hardened steel or ruby, due to the carbon fibers present in the filament.

Risks of printing on open printers

Although carbon fiber helps reduce warping, asa has a high tg. cooling too quickly can generate internal stresses and cracks in tall parts. therefore, even with asa-cf08, open 3d printers present higher risk of failures in large or detailed parts.

The asa-cf08 filament releases volatile organic compounds (vocs), such as styrene, when heated. exposure to these fumes may cause respiratory irritation, dizziness and headaches. prolonged exposure increases risks of more serious health issues.
