Filament2print introduces ASA Basic. This filament combines high technical performance with ease of printing, allowing makers, designers, and professionals to create durable, weather-resistant parts with a professional finish—without hassle. With ASA Basic, the Basics line expands its versatility and offers a reliable solution for both technical and creative 3D printing projects.

ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) is one of the most complete technical materials for 3D printing. It combines the strength of ABS with superior resistance to UV radiation, weather, and humidity, enabling the production of parts that retain their mechanical and aesthetic properties even after months of exposure to sun, rain, or outdoor environments.

Beyond its technical performance, ASA Basic by Filament2print stands out as one of the easiest technical materials to print. Its optimized formulation reduces the risk of warping, cracking, or curling, allowing makers, designers, and professionals to achieve consistent results without hassle—even on home or open-frame printers.

Common applications include:

  • Functional parts and mechanical prototypes that require strength and durability.
  • Outdoor enclosures and mounts, including lightweight machinery components or electronics exposed to the elements.
  • Garden elements, tools, and accessories that need to withstand temperature changes and direct sunlight.
  • Prototypes for functional testing, where mechanical strength and dimensional stability are critical.

Print with Confidence and Precision

ASA Basic maintains the dimensional consistency and spool quality characteristic of the entire Basics line by Filament2print. Each spool undergoes strict quality control to ensure constant diameter, uniform winding, and tangle-free, smooth unwinding.

These properties directly impact print reliability and final part quality:

  • Consistent extrusion ensures layers are deposited accurately, avoiding under- or over-extrusion.
  • Improved layer adhesion reduces the likelihood of delamination in tall or complex parts.
  • Stable filament flow allows printing technical geometries with tight tolerances, such as gears, connectors, or functional assembly parts.

Thanks to these features, ASA Basic delivers mechanically strong, dimensionally stable, and professionally finished parts, even in long or complex prints.

Superior Thermal and Mechanical Resistance

ASA Basic combines mechanical, thermal, and environmental resistance, offering superior properties compared to many other technical materials.

  • Mechanical strength: high toughness and rigidity allow it to withstand moderate loads, impacts, and friction, keeping parts functional even under continuous use or mechanical stress.
  • Thermal stability: maintains dimensional integrity up to 95 °C, resisting heat deformation and ensuring prototypes and functional parts don’t soften under demanding conditions.
  • Weather and UV resistance: ASA Basic is specially formulated to withstand prolonged exposure to sun, rain, or humidity, maintaining color, shape, and mechanical properties. Ideal for outdoor enclosures, mounts, and garden or industrial parts.
  • Chemical and external agent resistance: tolerates occasional contact with oils, alcohols, and mild cleaning agents without losing stability or structural properties.

Together, these properties make ASA Basic one of the most reliable and durable filaments on the market, perfect for technical parts, functional prototypes, and outdoor applications where other materials might fail.

Full Compatibility and Ease of Use

Each ASA Basic spool uses a durable, high-precision plastic reel, compatible with all multimaterial systems such as BambuLab AMS, Creality CFS, Prusa MMU3, Anycubic ACE, Phrozen Chroma Kit, and most FDM/FFF printers on the market. Advantages of plastic spools over cardboard include:

  • Superior rigidity, preventing deformation from handling or moisture.
  • Uniform rotation, ensuring stable unwinding and reducing stress on the extruder.
  • Compatibility with universal holders, spool holders, and automatic loading/detection systems.
  • Reusable and recyclable, ideal for professional and sustainable environments.

ASA Basic is a plug & play filament, ready to print without complicated adjustments. Its easy printability ensures reliable technical parts, even for users with no prior experience with advanced technical materials.

ASA Basic prints at between 240 ºC and 280 ºC, starting around 250 ºC and adjusting according to the material's flow and adhesion. The bed should be kept between 90 ºC and 100 ºC to ensure proper adhesion and avoid warping.

It is compatible with BuildTak, glass, Blue Tape and PEI; on smooth surfaces, it is recommended to apply a thin layer of adhesive to facilitate part removal. Additionally, ASA Basic works perfectly with the main multimaterial systems, always performing purges when changing filament.

The recommended printing speed ranges between 30 mm/s and 200 mm/s with a 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.2 mm layer height. For a fine finish, low speed is advised, while for stronger parts, speed can be increased and structural parameters optimized.

The layer fan should be used moderately, around 10%, to balance quality and strength. Before printing, it is important to dry the filament at 70 ºC for 6 hours, reducing stringing, bubbles, and surface defects, ensuring high-quality prints.

In the Attachments tab, you can find the technical sheet, the safety sheet, and the printing profiles for ASA Basic.
