PETg (glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate) is one of the most balanced and versatile materials in 3D printing. It combines the ease of printing of PLA with the strength and durability of ABS, delivering solid, precise parts with an excellent surface finish.

Thanks to its glycol-enhanced formulation, PETg offers low shrinkage, high mechanical and chemical resistance, and notable heat resistance of up to 70 °C, making it the ideal material for functional prototypes, technical parts, housings, mechanical components, or elements subjected to moderate stress.

Its excellent thermal and dimensional stability allows it to be printed with high precision and reliability, even on open printers or machines without heated enclosures, delivering professional results across a wide range of FDM/FFF systems.

Professional finish

The PETg Basic range by Filament2print is available in nine carefully selected colors, including two translucent shades that allow for semi-transparent effects—ideal for decorative parts, lighting applications, or designs where internal visibility is required.

Each color is referenced to a specific RAL shade, enabling accurate and consistent color selection across different projects, parts, or production batches. This RAL correspondence makes it possible to reproduce the same color across different materials and ensures visual consistency in industrial and design environments where aesthetic uniformity is essential.

The colors feature a glossy and uniform appearance, characteristic of PETg, providing a clean, scratch-resistant finish.

Thanks to its color stability and excellent layer adhesion, PETg Basic delivers high-quality results in both functional parts and presentation models that demand a refined, professional look.

Print with confidence and precision

PETg Basic maintains the excellent spool winding quality and dimensional consistency that define the Filament2print Basic range. A uniform winding ensures smooth, tension-free unwinding, preventing stops or tangles even during long print jobs.

The accurate filament diameter and roundness ensure consistent and controlled extrusion, reducing the risk of over-extrusion and improving layer adhesion—key factors in achieving mechanically strong and dimensionally stable parts.

These qualities allow PETg Basic to produce components with an ideal balance of strength, rigidity, and durability, delivering a professional finish layer after layer.

Enhanced thermal and mechanical resistance

PETg Basic stands out for its high toughness and excellent tensile strength, allowing the production of parts that withstand continuous mechanical stress and moderate deformation without breaking. Its combination of rigidity and controlled flexibility makes it especially suitable for impact-resistant components with a degree of elasticity, such as brackets, light gears, connectors, or assembly parts.

With a heat resistance of up to 70 °C, PETg maintains dimensional stability and structural integrity even when exposed to ambient heat or components that generate moderate temperatures, such as electronic housings or functional prototype parts.

In addition, PETg Basic offers high chemical resistance, withstanding contact with oils, alcohols, and most household cleaning products, making it an excellent choice for industrial applications or prototypes exposed to external agents. Its smooth, glossy surface also reduces dirt buildup and makes parts easier to clean.

This combination of mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties makes PETg the ideal filament for:

  • Functional prototypes requiring precision and durability.
  • Technical and assembly parts subjected to load or friction.
  • Protective housings for electronics or light machinery.
  • Industrial or household components exposed to moderate heat or chemicals.
  • Testing and mechanical validation models, where material reliability is critical.

Total compatibility

As with the entire Filament2print Basic range, each PETg Basic spool uses a durable, precisely manufactured plastic spool, compatible with most multi-material systems on the market, such as the Bambu Lab AMS, Creality CFS, Prusa MMU3, Anycubic ACE, or the Phrozen Chroma Kit.

Unlike cardboard spools, the plastic spool offers numerous technical and practical advantages:

  • Greater structural strength, preventing deformation or breakage even in high-humidity environments.
  • Lower friction and smoother rotation, improving filament feeding and reducing extruder strain.
  • Full compatibility with multi-material systems, where precise spool dimensions are essential.
  • Reusable and stable, ideal for long-term use, internal recycling, or storage under varying conditions.

In addition, its standard geometry and tight tolerances make it ideal for universal holders, enclosed spool systems, or automated rewinders, ensuring clean, tension-free unwinding.

All of this guarantees a smooth, interruption-free printing experience, both on home printers and in industrial equipment or production farms.

The PETG Basic is printed with a nozzle temperature between 230 °C and 260 °C. It is recommended to start around 240 °C and adjust according to material flow and layer adhesion. The print bed should be kept between 70 °C and 90 °C to ensure good adhesion and prevent warping during printing.

This material is compatible with printing surfaces such as BuildTak, glass, Blue Tape, and PEI. In the case of smooth surfaces such as glass or PEI, it is advisable to apply a thin layer of adhesive to facilitate part removal and prevent excessive adhesion.

The recommended printing speed ranges between 30 mm/s and 120 mm/s, using a 0.4 mm nozzle and a 0.2 mm layer height as reference. To prioritize surface finish, high-quality settings are recommended, while to achieve greater mechanical strength it is preferable to reduce speed and optimize structural parameters.

The use of the layer fan should be moderate. Progressive cooling helps improve the finish, but if the goal is to maximize the mechanical strength of the part, it is advisable to reduce or even disable ventilation.

The PETG Basic is fully compatible with the main multimaterial systems, provided that proper purging is carried out when changing filament to avoid unwanted mixing.

Before printing, it is important to dry the filament at 60 °C for approximately 6 hours, as PETG is sensitive to moisture. Properly dried filament reduces stringing, bubbles, and surface defects, significantly improving the final print quality.
