ThermaX PPE PS filament by 3DXTech is an alloy characterized by exceptional thermal, mechanical, and chemical resistance to most aqueous solutions, detergents, acids, and bases. ThermaX PPE PS is made from UL94 V0 rated flame retardant (halogen-free) base material and it is suitable for a wide array of demanding engineering applications in many sectors such as aerospace, automotive, industrial, electronics, and telecommunications,. ThermaX PPE PS can be used to manufacture pumps, water meters, water guiding parts, battery housings, covers for household appliances, components in printers and copiers, vending machine components, medical devices, etc.

The PPE PS blend is created by mixing PPE (polyphenylene ether) with HIPS (high impact polystyrene). Apart from the thermal, mechanical and chemical resistance, the ThermaX PPE PS shows good surface appearance, low moisture absorption, creep resistance and dimensional stability. The amorphous structure of PPE PS gives it nearly isotropic shrinkage and the long-term hydrolic stability makes it very stable in boiling water. Furthermore, the ThermaX PPE PS has a stable dielectric constant and dissipation factor over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies, and the UV resistance makes it ideal for outdoor applications (rating F1 in UL 746C).

For achieving parts with complex geometries, the ThermaX PPE PS filament can be used together with the water soluble AquaTek X1 UMS support filament.

The ThermaX PPE-PS filament should be printed at a temperature of 290-320 ºC, on a bed heated to 90-110 ºC. It is also recommended to use a 3D printed with a heated chamber (50-80 ºC) if possible as it can help prevent warping. Another way to prevent warping and improve adhesion of the 3D printed part to the printing surface (especially with large parts) is to use Magigoo.

The ThermaX PPE-PS filament should be stored properly in order to prevent it from absorbing excess moisture. Humidity is the biggest enemy of filaments as it can result in extrusion problems, poor surface quality of the 3D printed part and a deterioration in its mechanical properties. The best way to store the ThermaX PPE-PS filament is in a sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum sealed container or in an intelligent filament container. During printing, the Fiber Three drying case can be used. If the ThermaX PPE-PS filament absorbs too much moisture, it should dried in a filament dryer for 4 hours at 80 ºC.
