Alkaline-soluble support for ABS, ASA, HIPS, PA, PAEK, PC-ABS, PCTG, PEEK, PEKK, PET/G, PPS, PVB, TPC, TPU.

Common hydrosoluble support materials such as PVA and BVOH can prove problematic when it comes to storage and extrusion, mostly due to their increased sensitivity to humidity. Xioneer has solved that problem with their VXL family of versatile and easy-to-print alkaline-soluble support filaments. Among them is the VXL 111 support material compatible with ABS, ASA, HIPS, PA, PAEK, PC-ABS, PCTG, PEEK, PEKK, PET, PETG, PPS, PVB, TPC and TPU.

This support material can also be used in high speed FDM 3D printing with materials such as the BASF ABS Ultrafuse filament, ABS Fusion+ filament or PAHT CF15 filament. The complete support material compatibility table can be consulted in the Downloads section.

Similarly to other support materials from the VXL family, VXL 111 demonstrates many features that make it a much better alternative to BVOh or PVA:

  • Smoother and more reliable printing due to no clogging.
  • Better adhesion to the print bed and model.
  • Faster dissolution than BVOH and PVA.
  • High dimensional accuracy.
  • Easier to store and use thanks to far less sensitivity to humidity.
  • Broadest range of model material compatibility.

This excellent behavior of the VXL 111 support filament is a result of a special proprietary Xioneer formula based on years of research.

The VXL filaments are alkali-soluble support materials suitable for intricate 3D printed structures, typically printed with low infill and easily washed away from the model in a solution of water and VXL EX or VXL Solve (detergents designed by Xioneer especially for the VXL support materials), with the help of the Vortex EZ support removal station.

The wide range of model materials compatible with the VXL 111 support filament and its high maximal processing temperatures make it possible for the users of VXL 111 to work not only with engineering materials but also with high performance and advanced polymers such as PPS or materials from the PAEK family.

Solubility Solubility

The manufacturer recommends printing the VXL 111 support material on a bed heated to 90-110 °C and on a 3D printer with dual extrusion and a heated chamber (up to 100 ºC). Nevertheless, these parameters will largely depend on the recommended printing parameters of the main material (ABS, ASA, HIPS, PA, PAEK, PC-ABS, PCTG, PEEK, PEKK, PET, PETG, PPS, PVB, TPC, TPU). The maximum extrusion temperature of 230-250 °C should not be exceeded for this filament.

Althouth the VXL 111 support material is more resistant to humidity, it should still be stored in a cool and dry environment (15-25 °C) and away from UV light to ensure the filament's optimal shelf life. The spool should be stored in its original packaging and the included desiccant can be regenerated at 80 ºC for four hours. If the original packaging is not available, VXL 111 should be stored in a vacuum sealed container with a filament drying capsule or in the DryBox EZ by Xioneer, a professional filament storage solution that ensures humidity is kept away from the material.

The VXL 111 support filament must be dissolved only in the VXL EX and VXL Solve detergents, especially designed for the VXL support filaments. This can be done with the help of the Vortex EZ support removal station by Xioneer.

Personal protection equipment (goggles, gloves, garments, shoes, breathing equipment) should always be worn and adequate room ventilation should be used when handling the VXL 111 support filament and the solvents.
