Raise3D is one of the leading manufacturers of 3D FDM printers and accessories. Since its inception, it has been committed to offering high quality 3D printers, with innovative components and operating systems, always maintaining an adequate sale price for most professional users.
Currently it offers a wide catalog of high quality filaments: PLA, ABS, ASA, PC, PETG and PVA.
ABS is a plastic formed from acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. It is called engineering plastic because it is a material with superior mechanical and thermal properties than conventional plastics, which also implies greater printing difficulties.
Due to its composition, ABS has the following properties:
The combination of these three blocks makes ABS a widely used plastic in industrial sectors such as the automobile or in products in common use (toys, electrical appliance housings, etc.). As a consequence of its widespread use in the industry, this material was one of the first to be used in 3D printing together with PLA.
Contrary to PLA, ABS can be easily post-processed: machining, polishing, drilling, gluing or painting with ease and without the need for special tools or products.
ABS Premium Raise 3D Filament has been designed and developed with the aim of offering the highest quality and excellent compatibility with Raise 3D printers. To do this, the material is tested by the manufacturer until it finds the parameters that best fit to achieve an optimal impression.
Raise 3D has developed a lamination software, Idea Maker, in which it includes a series of predefined settings for different materials, based on the data obtained in its tests. These presets include the one for Raise 3D Premium ABS; which greatly facilitates and speeds up the printing process.
Raise 3D Premium ABS comes in 1kg reels and only 1.75mm diameter. The coils are shipped in a vacuum bag inside a cardboard box. In this way, the material is preserved without moisture to ensure optimal printing.

3D printing with Raise 3D Premium ABS is slightly more complex than with PLA Premium filament. In the case of ABS Premium filament, it is necessary that the printing base is hot, between 80 and 100ºC. In addition, the extruder temperature must be between 220 and 240ºC. It should also be remembered that this material suffers from the phenomenon called "warping", which causes the first layer of parts to peel off from the base of the 3D printer. For this reason, it is recommended to use BuildTak, Kapton Tape, Magigoo or DimaFix especially when printing large pieces, so that they do not tend to detach from the base.
As for the temperature of the cabin where it is going to print, it is recommended that it be controlled and that there are no drafts. For this reason, if printing with Raise 3D printers of the Pro range, it must be printed with the top cover to keep the camera temperature stable.
Finally, this material should be printed in a well-ventilated room, as the vapors that are released during printing with Premium ABS filament are not entirely healthy.
