The PA12 Industrial 3D printing powder by Sinterit is a nylon 12, one of the various varieties of nylon. PA12 is composed of ω-aminolauric acid or laurolactam monomers that each have 12 carbons, giving it the name nylon 12. Nylon 12 is used in many industrial sectors (from textiles to aeronautics) and it is know for its hardness, resistance to abrasion, low water absorption and low density, as well as chemical resistance and low risk of stress cracking.

Apart from those properties, the PA12 Industrial powder makes for accurate and dimensionally stable 3D prints with excellent mechanical properties (especially tensile strength) and a great industrial surface finish.

PA12 Industrial was designed to be used on the Lisa X and Nils 480 SLS 3D printers, and it is ideal for applications such as functional prototyping and the 3D printing of jigs and fixtures, as well as the fabrication of end use parts. Parts 3D printed with the PA12 Industrial powder will be ideal not only for visually attractive prototypes but also for prolonged use under stress in chemically demanding environments.

The PA12 Industrial powder by Sinterit is also biocompatible (tested for non irritant and non cytotoxicity). However, it should be kept in mind that the biocompatibility largely depends on the proper 3D printing and post-processing of the part, and it is the manufacturer's responsibility to confirm biocompatibility for the final use.

How to refresh the Sinterit powders

Image 1: How to refresh the Sinterit powders. Source: Sinterit.

The recommended refreshing ratio for the PA12 Industrial Powder is 30 % of PA12 Industrial powder and 70 % of recycled powder. The amount of needed fresh powder is automatically calculated by the Sinterit software and shown on the printer screen after the print job is finished.
