The Isplen 720 FV and Isplen 820 FM pellets are advanced materials especially designed for the FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) and FGF (Fused Granulate Fabrication) 3D printing technologies. They are both made out of polypropylene reinforced with fibers or minerals, and recyclable.
The 720 FV pellets are made of a high fluidity polypropylene reinforced with 30 % of fiberglass. This gives the pellets stiffness and impact strength at all temperature ranges, with low warping and shrinking. What’s more the Isplen 720 FV pellets are UV stabilized, which means that they are adequate for outdoor applications. The recommended processing temperature range for these pellets is 190-250 ºC but the processing conditions should be adjusted to each production line.
The 820 FM pellets are composed of a highly processable and medium flow polypropylene reinforced with 20 % of mineral charge. These pellets are also UV stabilized and have excellent scratch resistance. Similarly to the 720 FV pellets, it is recommended to process the 820 FM pellets at temperatures ranging from 190-250 ºC, keeping in mind that the processing conditions must be optimized for each production line.
Both the 720 FV and 820 FM pellets are perfect for applications where the required properties are high mechanical strength, great processability and stability of the 3D printed part. Some example applications are:
Both these materials can be used directly as pellets, for example with the AM Flexbot System by CEAD, or processed into filament with the help of equipment such as the Filastruder Kit.
The Isplen 720 FV and 820 FM pellets are perfect 3D printing materials for demanding mechanical applications, including outdoor uses. Their recyclability constitutes an additional advantage, as it makes it an eco-friendly 3D printing material.

Both the 720 FV and 820 FM pellets should be stored in a dry environment, at temperatures under 60 ºC and protected from UV radiation. Any other storing conditions will result in the pellets degrading, which could cause a migration of additives included in the pellets (mineral and fiberglass). This, in turn, may negatively influence the processability of the material and the quality and properties of the 3D printed part.
Both materials should be dried for about 2 hours at 80 ºC before use. Air cooling will result in a better surface finish of a part 3D printed with the Isplen 820 FM and 720 FV pellets.
For the 720 FV pellets, the use of a 0.6 mm nozzle or wear resistant nozzles is recommended due to the abrasiveness of fiberglass. Some examples of wear resistant nozzles are hardened steel nozzles, Vanadium nozzles, or the Olsson Ruby nozzle. Using a regular nozzle or a nozzle with a diameter smaller than 0.6 mm will result in the degradation of the nozzle walls and exit, resulting in a bad quality or failed impression.
There are a few ways to make sure no warping occurs when 3D printing with the Isplen 720 FV and 820 FM pellets. One of them is to use Kapton tape or the Magigoo PP stick in order to improve the adhesion of the material to the printing bed. Another way the risk of warping can be reduced is to protect the base layer of the part 3D printed with the Isplen 720 FV and 820 FM pellets by including a raft or a brim in the design. One more way of minimizing the risk of warping would be to use a printer with a heated chamber or with a heated bed. The recommended chamber temperature range is 55-90 ºC.
