The Flex V0 filament from Nanovia's catalog of 3D printing materials was carefully engineered to meet the stringent demands of high-risk environments where flexibility and fire resistance are paramount. With a Shore 90A/40D rating and V0 classification per the UL-94 norm at a minimal 0.8 mm thickness, this filament ensures optimal safety standards.

This filament's major advantage is that it can be 3D printed on most FDM 3D printers equipped with direct drive extruders. A direct drive extruder is preferable for flexible filaments because it eliminates the need for a long filament path, reducing the risk of filament buckling or jamming, and providing better control over filament movement. Furthermore, thanks to Nanovia Flex V0's superior interlayer and bed adhesion properties, which reduces the risk of deformation and give parts better quality and dimensional stability. Even though the use of an enclosed  3D printer is recommended, it is not required to print the Flex V0 filament.

Nanovia Flex V0 offers exceptional mechanical performance, boasting a tensile resistance of 27 MPa. It maintains structural integrity even under extreme conditions, with 7 MPa at 100% elongation and 10 MPa at 300% elongation, ensuring flexibility without compromising strength. With an ultimate elongation at break of 524%, this filament is engineered to withstand demanding industrial applications, providing durability and resilience for long-lasting results.

Nanovia Flex V0 sets the standard for reliability, safety, and durability in flexible filament solutions, empowering professionals to meet their technical objectives with confidence and precision. As a filament with fire resistance and flexibility, the Flex V0 filament finds utility across industries, from manufacturing and safety equipment to medical devices and outdoor gear.

The ideal printing temperature for Flex V0 is between 235 ºC and 245 ºC on a heated bed at 20-40 ºC. It is recommended to print this filament in a closed chamber (20 ºC). Since Flex V0 filament is a flexible material, the manufacturer provides some tips for successful extrusion:

  • If under-extrusion occurs, reduce the print speed. Under-extrusion may be due to slipping of the drive mechanism against the filament.
  • Limiting the maximum volumetric speed can also help with loading and retraction slipping.
  • Nanovia Flex V0 is relatively fluid and may require a high retraction adjustment in case of stringing.

It is crucial to store the Flex V0 filament properly as processing of moist filament may cause degradation of polymer chains, brittleness, poor layer adhesion, stringing and oozing. It is best to store the filament in a tightly sealed bag with a desiccant or in a vacuum sealed filament container. Should the filament absorb excess moisture, it must be dried in a filament dryer at 100 ºC for 4 hours before it can be extruded.
