Nylon filament in various colors. Flexible, resistant to heat, chemicals and abrasion.

The PA12 filament from Fiberlogy is a nylon 12 based material designed to meet the stringent demands of mechanical and technical applications. Engineered from high-grade nylon material, this filament raises the bar for 3D printing and manufacturing, exhibiting exceptional resistance to elevated temperatures, alcohol, and a wide array of chemicals. Its outstanding durability, formidable strength, and unbreakable nature make it an indispensable choice for industries where precision and reliability are paramount.

What truly sets the PA12 Filament apart is its remarkable flexibility, capable of stretching by an impressive 50 % prior to experiencing a structural failure. This unique attribute opens doors to a multitude of possibilities, making it an ideal choice for crafting intricate mechanical components such as precision guides and cog wheels, as well as technically demanding parts like slide bearings and nuts.

Moreover, its machinability mirrors that of metals, ensuring seamless integration into complex manufacturing processes. The added benefit of paint compatibility makes it a versatile solution for customization. While the PA12 Filament exhibits high resistance to extreme temperatures and harsh chemical environments, it's important to note its vulnerability to concentrated alkalis and acids

What makes the Fiberlogy PA12 filament truly versatile is that it has been favorably assessed to be part of the Open Filament Program by Raise3D. This makes it possible to extrude this filament on the E2CF 3D printer as well as on the Pro3 printer.

The ideal printing temperature for PA12 is between 255 ºC and 270 ºC on a heated bed at 90-110 ºC at a speed of 35-60 mm/s, with the layer fan set to 0-10% and the flow rate set to 95-105%. It is necessary to print this filament in a closed chamber. The recommended retraction speed for PA12 is 20-45 mm/s, and the optimal retractions are 2-3 mm for direct extrusion and 4-6 mm for Bowden systems. The recommended printing surface is glass with PVA glue.

The proper storage of PA12 filament is essential, as processing a wet filament can lead to polymer chain degradation, fragility, poor layer adhesion, stringing, and oozing. It is best to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant or in a vacuum-sealed filament container. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer at 70 ºC for 4 hours before it can be extruded.
