The VXL 130 support filament is a high temperature support filament compatible with advanced build materials such as PA, PAEK, PC, PC-ABS, PEEK, PEKK, PET, PPS. It was designed and manufactured by Xioneer to answer the need in the market of soluble support materials for materials that would not only adhere well to the build material and the printing bed, but also prove easy to store and extrude.

In comparison with common soluble support materials such as BVOH or PVA, the alkaline-soluble VXL 130 support filament definitely stands out thans to the following features:

  • Smoother and more reliable printing due to no clogging.
  • Better adhesion to the print bed and model.
  • Faster dissolution than BVOH and PVA.
  • High dimensional accuracy.
  • Easier to store and use thanks to far less sensitivity to humidity.
  • Broadest range of model material compatibility.

Just like in the case of the other filaments from the VXL family, this excellent behavior exhibited by the VXL 130 support filament is a result of a special proprietary Xioneer formula based on years of research.

The VXL filaments are alkali-soluble support materials suitable for intricate 3D printed structures, typically printed with low infill and easily washed away from the model in a solution of water and VXL EX or VXL Solve (detergents designed by Xioneer especially for the VXL support materials), with the help of the Vortex EZ support removal station

From all the VXL support materials by Xioneer, VXL 130 has the highest glass transition temperature (130 ºC) and the highest processing temperatures, which makes it possible to use it as a support material for complex parts 3D printed with polymers such as PA, PET, PC, PC-ABS, PPS or materials from the PAEK family.

The manufacturer recommends printing the VXL 130 support material on a bed heated to 100-130 °C and on a 3D printer with dual extrusion and a heated chamber (up to 120 ºC). Nevertheless, these parameters will largely depend on the recommended printing parameters of the main material (PA, PAEK, PC, PC-ABS, PEEK, PEKK, PET, PPS). The maximum extrusion temperature of 260-280 °C should not be exceeded for this filament.

Althouth the VXL 130 support material is more resistant to humidity, it should still be stored in a cool and dry environment (15-25 °C) and away from UV light to ensure the filament's optimal shelf life. The spool should be stored in its original packaging and the included desiccant can be regenerated at 80 ºC for four hours. If the original packaging is not available, VXL 130 should be stored in a vacuum sealed container with a filament drying capsule or in the DryBox EZ by Xioneer, a professional filament storage solution that ensures humidity is kept away from the material.

The VXL 130 support filament must be dissolved only in the VXL EX and VXL Solve detergents, especially designed for the VXL support filaments. This can be done with the help of the Vortex EZ support removal station by Xioneer.

Personal protection equipment (goggles, gloves, garments, shoes, breathing equipment) should always be worn and adequate room ventilation should be used when handling the VXL 130 support filament and the solvents.
