The xPEEK147-Black resin is a material developed by Nexa 3D and powered by Loctite (Henkel). The key property of the xPEEK147-Black resin is its high temperature resistance (HDT 230 °C).
This allows for the 3D printing of parts that are resistant to temperature stress and maintain their dimensional stability over long periods of time, at temperatures of over 100 ºC. Tests conducted by the manufacturer show that a part 3D printed with the xPEEK147-Black resin maintained its mechanical properties despite long-term exposure to thermal stress at a temperature of 125 ºC.
Apart from the high temperature resistance, the xPEEK147-Black resin demonstrates excellent toughness and a great surface finish of the 3D printed parts. This resin is in many ways similar to PEEK thermoplastics from the PAEK family of advanced 3D printing materials. Apart from the excellent thermal properties, the xPEEK147-Black resin also exhibits good resistance to solvents.
The great thermomechanical behavior, chemical resistance and good surface properties of the xPEEK147-Black resin make it ideal for the 3D printing of prototypes but also end-use parts that will be subjected to high temperatures over extended periods of time. The ideal applications are fast production tooling, plastic blow molding or even specialty parts for the aerospace industry.

Certain precautions must be taken when working with 3D printing resins. The user must ensure that the working space is adequately ventilated, and that protective goggles, gloves and garments are worn at all times. The xPEEK147-Black resin should be stored in a tightly closed container/resin vat to avoid resin deterioration due to UV exposure. The container/vat should be kept in a cool, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame.
Parts 3D printed with the Nexa 3D xPEEK147-Black resin will achieve their specific properties only after being subjected to post-processing by washing and curing. If applicable, the support structures must be removed from the part before curing and the part must be washed. Nexa3D recommends 2 wash intervals (2 minutes each) in IPA alcohol or xClean. It is recommended to use two buckets in the cleaning process, especially when working with multiple resin colors, to prevent resin residue from sticking to the part.
Once washed, the parts 3D printed with the xPEEK147-Black resin must be dried and then cured either with the help of an LED or wide spectrum lamp, or in the Nexa 3D Wash+Cure station developed especially for the washing and curing of parts 3D printed on the XiP 3D printer. The recommended washing, drying and curing times can be consulted on the manufacturer's website for each Nexa 3D resin.
