Facilan Ortho filament is a semi-crystalline polyester developed specifically for orthopaedic applications in collaboration with orthotic manufacturers and wearers.

Facilan Ortho filament, made from a high-quality biodegradable plastic (EN13432 standard) based on a compostable thermoplastic. Facilan Ortho is a very flexible and resistant material, even more so than materials such as TPE, with a clean white final appearance thanks to its semi-crystallinity. Like other filaments from the manufacturer, Facilan Ortho can be remoulded in water at 55°C after printing. This means that it can be used to 3D print parts that can subsequently be fitted to a given surface, for example a patient's body.

In addition, Facilan Ortho has excellent adhesion to textiles, making it possible to combine 3D printed parts with textile insoles, midsoles or other orthotic or footwear parts. Other applications of Facilan Ortho are corrective appliances and soft appliances in orthodontics.

Facilan Ortho filament should be 3D printed at 130-170°C on a print bed heated to 30-45°C. The print speed should be around 10-30 mm/s, with the layer fan set to 100%. For cold extrusion (below 170 °C), "M302 S120" should be added at the beginning of the g-code.

If complex structures are to be printed with Facilan Ortho filament, a water-soluble PVA support filament or a breakaway support filament can be used.
