The water-soluble PVA filament from Bambu Lab is perfect for 3D printing complex models requiring high-precision supports. Specifically designed as a support material, this filament enables creating impossible geometries with complete and effortless dissolution, leaving clean, mark-free surfaces after removal.

Thanks to its composition, PVA for 3D printing ensures a smooth support interface, ideal for working with PLA and other compatible materials. This filament comes in 1.75 mm diameter with ±0.03 mm tolerance, ensuring uniform extrusion and excellent adhesion. It also features a high-temperature reusable spool for optimal storage.

PVA filament dissolves in water reaching complex 3D printing areas, offering support where other materials cannot. This allows advanced models with clean, precise finishes.

The main feature of PVA filament is its water solubility, simplifying post-processing and avoiding damage to delicate parts. Even the most intricate details are residue-free when submerged, providing professional, precise finishes.

For best results, use this material only as a support and keep it dry before use. Fully compatible with AMS and AMS Lite, although not recommended for 0.2 mm nozzles due to its soluble nature.

This filament offers a clear advantage in professional 3D printing, where time efficiency and finish quality are critical. With water-soluble PVA it is possible to create complex parts, functional prototypes, and detailed designs with flawless final cleaning.

RFID for Smart Printing

The PVA filament integrates RFID for smart printing, allowing all print parameters to be preloaded on the spool. The AMS (Automatic Material System) can read this info automatically and configure the printer in seconds.

This reduces the process to load and print, eliminating manual setups and tedious steps, enhancing the user experience and ensuring consistent results from the first layer.

For optimal performance, the water-soluble PVA filament must be dried before use and after each storage period. The recommendation is to keep it at 80 °C for 12 hours to remove moisture and ensure stable extrusion. If the material becomes soft or sticky, it will be necessary to repeat the drying process to avoid problems such as nozzle clogs or low print quality.

PVA is best preserved in sealed containers with desiccant and with a humidity level below 20% RH. Although it may darken after several drying cycles or prolonged storage, this color variation does not affect its support capability or its performance in 3D printing.

Regarding printer settings, it is recommended to work with a nozzle temperature between 220 °C and 250 °C, a heated bed set between 35 °C and 45 °C with adhesive, and to keep the print speed below 200 mm/s. These conditions ensure uniform extrusion and reliable supports for complex parts.

For the post-processing phase, PVA dissolves faster in warm water. However, when combined with PLA, the water temperature should not exceed 50 °C to avoid warping the main part. It is not necessary to wait for the material to dissolve completely; manually removing the partially softened support can speed up the process. Furthermore, it is recommended to use normal supports instead of tree-like supports, as the latter tend to collapse during printing.

Depending on the application, PVA can also be used only at the support interface, thus reducing material consumption and printing times, without sacrificing the quality of the final result.
