Filament sensor for the CreatBot PEEK-300 that accurately detects the presence of filament, possible jams, and the end of the spool. This prevents printing failures due to lack of material and allows the printer to automatically resume printing after the spool is replaced.

Thanks to this function, the printer stops immediately in the event of any anomaly in the filament supply and alerts the user, ensuring long unattended prints and maximum reliability even for jobs lasting several hours or days.

The component is designed to integrate with the printer’s control system and manage dynamic filament inputs without causing unnecessary interruptions under normal operating conditions.

  • Proper installation: ensure the sensor is mounted along the filament path without obstructions and that the connector is securely attached to the control board to avoid false readings or disconnections.
  • Sensitivity verification: check that detection responds to 1.75 mm filament during the first layers; adjust the sensor position if needed to ensure the filament passes directly and flatly through the detection point.
  • Prevention of false positives: in filament paths with curves or sharp direction changes, position guides or supports to maintain stable filament contact with the sensor and prevent accidental interruptions from erroneous readings.
  • Periodic cleaning: remove dust, fibers, or filament residue around the sensor to ensure the optical or mechanical signal is not affected over time.
  • Function tests: after any sensor replacement, run a short extrusion test to verify the printer correctly detects filament presence and absence before starting long prints.
  • Alert handling: interpret control system signals correctly (pause for filament end, jam, or break) and follow touchscreen instructions to resume printing without losing quality.
