Compatibility

The High Flow ObXidian HotEnds are not compatible with the Bambu X1E printer. Although they can be physically installed, the maximum working temperature is limited to 300 °C, which may restrict their performance with certain technical materials.

Maximum printing temperature

The maximum printing temperature is 300 °C. It is not recommended to exceed this limit to avoid damage to the ObXidian™ coating or the internal components of the HotEnd.

Recommended filaments and materials

These HotEnds are compatible with all filaments that work with E3D Revo and V6 ObXidian nozzles. They are especially designed for fiber-reinforced filaments (for example, carbon fiber or glass fiber), as well as filaments with glitter or glow-in-the-dark particles.

They can also be used with metal- or ceramic-filled filaments, although this is recommended only occasionally, as these materials cause wear during prolonged use.

Wear resistance

ObXidian™ nozzles offer significantly higher wear resistance than conventional hardened nozzles. However, some advanced engineering materials with highly abrasive fillers—such as the Polymaker Fiberon range (PA612-CF, PA6-CF, PA6-GF, and PA12-CF)—may still wear down the nozzle over time.

If you frequently work with such materials, it is advisable to consider more specialized solutions; E3D is developing specific options for extreme use cases.

Nozzle size and clogging risk

Some filled filaments contain particles of a size similar to or larger than 0.4 mm. Printing these materials with small nozzles significantly increases the risk of clogs. Always check the filament’s technical data sheet and ensure you are using a suitable nozzle diameter for the material.

Cleaning and maintenance

The HotEnd supports the “cold pull” technique. The ObXidian™ coating is designed to withstand the force of this method, although the process may be slightly more demanding than with conventional nozzles due to the internal structure of the HotEnd.

Calibration (PID)

It is not necessary to perform PID tuning after installing the E3D ObXidian High Flow HotEnd on the Bambu printer.

Compatibility with Revo nozzles

These HotEnds maintain the same external shape as the original Bambu nozzles and are therefore not compatible with the E3D Revo nozzle range. If you need compatibility with the Revo system, consider the Revo Panda by Biqu model, specifically designed for that purpose.

Final recommendation: if you frequently process highly abrasive filaments, plan periodic nozzle inspections and keep specialized spare nozzles on hand to minimize downtime.
