The resin is compatible with MSLA 3D printers equipped with monochrome LCD and DLP technologies within the 365-420 nm UV wavelength range, such as Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K or Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra, and similar devices. Specific printer settings for optimal performance can be accessed on the AmeraLabs website.

One of the key features of XVN-50 resin is its hard, glossy surface (82 Shore D), which enables precise replication of a model’s dimensions with sharp, straight edges. This resin is engineered to produce dimensionally accurate and stable parts that resist cracking or deformation due to shrinkage. Additionally, it provides a balanced combination of flexibility, stiffness, impact resistance, and tensile strength, making it ideal for demanding engineering applications.

XVN-50 resin is user-friendly, offering easy printability, good adhesion to the build plate, low odor, and stable pigment dispersion. Post-processing is straightforward; the resin cures quickly, does not remain tacky, and feels pleasant to the touch. Parts 3D printed with the XVN-50 resin are easy to modify by drilling, cutting, tapping to add threads, sanding and painting for a professional finish. Consult our catalog of resin post-processing accessories to find the right tools. With a medium viscosity of 560 cPs, cleaning parts before post-curing is simple, ensuring that all features of the original model are maintained. More printing and post-processing tips as well as technical information about the XVN-50 resin can be found in the Usage Tips section.

Printing

For those who are only beginning their adventure with resin 3D printing, we recommend reading the Beginner's Guide to AmeraLabs resins as well as referring to the troubleshooting guide prepared by AmeraLabs in case any problems occur while 3D printing with the XVN-50 resin.

It is crucial that the XVN-50 is not used with PDMS-based resin trays due to its high reactivity, which can harm the PDMS silicone layer. It is highly recommended to use this resin exclusively with resin trays with FEP, NFEP, PFA, or ACF films.

Detailed information on the printing and post-processing workflow with the XVN-50 resin can be found in the product’s technical datasheet in the Attachments section as well in this blog post on the manufacturer’s website.

Post-processing

Parts 3D printed with the XVN-50 resin will achieve their specific properties only after being subjected to post-processing by washing and curing.

Washing

AmeraLabs recommends using IPA alcohol for the washing and the washing time will largely depend on the washing equipment used. If a washing station is used, the average washing time is 15 minutes and a second wash of 10 minutes if required. If an ordinary bucket system and manual cleaning are used, the parts should be submerged for 10 minutes, swirled for 1 minutes, submerged for another 10 minutes in IPA, and swirled again for 1 minutes. If an ultrasonic cleaner is used, it is recommended not to go over 20 minutes of cleaning.

Post-curing

Once washed, the parts 3D printed with the XVN-50 resin must be dried and cured immediately either with the help of a curing station (with our without supports). The recommended curing times will depend on the used equipment but can range from anywhere between 5 to 60 minutes. The rule of thumb is that parts should be cured until not sticky anymore and until the surface is very hard to scratch.

Safety

Certain precautions must be taken when working with 3D printing resins. The user must ensure that the working space is adequately ventilated, and that protective gear such as goggles, gloves and garments are worn at all times. The XVN-50 resin should be stored in a tightly closed container/resin vat to avoid resin deterioration due to UV exposure. The container/vat should be kept in a cool, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame. To get a better idea of how to work with the AmeraLabs resins safely, please read the manufacturer's blog post on the most common resin safety myths.
