The DMD-31 dental model resin was developed by AmeraLabs in collaboration with experienced dental technicians to meet the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. Engineered with minimal shrinkage and enhanced dimensional stability, this resin is ideal for complex dental applications. Special additives ensure that the material is non-brittle, making it suitable for producing smooth-fitting implant and die models. DMD-31 resin can maintain sharp edges and intricate details, resulting in a high success rate for challenging prints.

DMD-31 is optimized for use on professional DLP 3D printers with 385-405 nm UV light and is also compatible with monochrome LCD printers. This versatility allows it to perform well on a wide range of equipment, such as the Anycubic Photon M3 Max, Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K, and UniZ SLASH 2 Plus. For a comprehensive list of validated equipment and recommended printing parameters, users can consult the detailed settings guide provided on the AmeraLabs website.

This resin is available in two customer-facing colors, beige (A2) and light grey, which are both aesthetically pleasing and color-stable, ensuring a professional appearance for dental models. The DMD-31 resin is easy to use, thanks to its low odor and fast-curing properties, making it an excellent choice for busy dental labs. The resin’s smooth surface finish and accurate fit make it ideal for various dental applications, including implant-supported and tooth-borne fixed restoration models, digital wax-ups, accurate removable dies, alveolar model bases, orthodontic models, and study models.

Printing

For those who are only beginning their adventure with resin 3D printing, we recommend reading the Beginner's Guide to AmeraLabs resins as well as referring to the troubleshooting guide prepared by AmeraLabs in case any problems occur while 3D printing with the DMD-31 resin.

Detailed information on the printing and post-processing workflow with the DMD-31 resin can be found in the product’s technical datasheet in the Attachments section.

Post-processing

Parts 3D printed with the DMD-31 resin will achieve their specific properties only after being subjected to post-processing by washing and curing.

Washing

AmeraLabs recommends using IPA alcohol for the washing and the washing time will largely depend on the washing equipment used. If a washing station is used, the average washing time is 5 minutes and a second wash of 3 minutes if required. If an ordinary bucket system and manual cleaning are used, the parts should be submerged for 2 minutes, swirled for 2 minutes, submerged for another 2 minutes in IPA, and swirled again for 2 minutes. If an ultrasonic cleaner is used, it is recommended not to go over 10 minutes of cleaning.

Post-curing

Once washed, the parts 3D printed with the DMD-31 resin must be dried and cured immediately either with the help of a curing station (with our without supports). The recommended curing times will depend on the used equipment but can range from anywhere between 5 to 60 minutes. The rule of thumb is that parts should be cured until not sticky anymore and until the surface is very hard to scratch.

Safety

Certain precautions must be taken when working with 3D printing resins. The user must ensure that the working space is adequately ventilated, and that protective gear such as goggles, gloves and garments are worn at all times. The DMD-31 resin should be stored in a tightly closed container/resin vat to avoid resin deterioration due to UV exposure. The container/vat should be kept in a cool, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame. To get a better idea of how to work with the AmeraLabs resins safely, please read the manufacturer's blog post on the most common resin safety myths.
