1. Clay Preparation

Kneading and homogenization: Before use, knead the clay thoroughly to remove air bubbles and ensure a uniform texture. You can use a clay mixer or knead it manually.
Moisture: The clay should have the right level of moisture: not too dry (it cracks) and not too wet (it loses shape). If it’s too dry, gradually add water while kneading.

2. 3D Printing with Clay

Proper nozzle: Use nozzles of at least 1.5–2 mm in diameter to prevent clogging, especially with thicker clays.
Printing speed: Print at low speeds to prevent deformation and ensure good layer adhesion.
Support: If your design includes overhangs, use clay supports or redesign to minimize their need.

3. Drying and Firing

Slow drying: Dry pieces slowly and in a humid environment at first to prevent cracking. Cover them with plastic or a damp cloth.
Firing: Red earthenware is usually fired between 950°C and 1100°C (cone 04–0). Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.

4. Finishing and Glazing

Sanding: Before glazing, gently sand the dry pieces to remove imperfections.
Glaze: Use glazes compatible with the firing temperature of red earthenware. Always test on small samples before applying to large projects.

5. General Tips

Clean all equipment thoroughly after using clay to prevent clogging and extend its lifespan.
Store leftover clay in airtight bags to keep it from drying out.
