The Red Earthenware 3D printing clay mix from WASP stands out as the ideal solution for creative and professional projects using LDM WASP and LDM WASP XL extruders. Each package contains 12.5 kg of natural clay, carefully selected to deliver consistent, high-quality results in three-dimensional printing. This deep red ceramic material combines aluminum silicate, calcium and magnesium carbonate, and quartz, ensuring a homogeneous mixture that allows for smooth, controlled extrusion.

The clay is produced through a process of selective mineral extraction, recognized as a natural substance and free from classification as a regenerated material. Its chemical composition ensures stability during 3D printing, reducing deformation and enabling smooth finishes and precise details in every project. This 3D printing clay material is perfect for prototypes, functional parts, and artistic creations, combining aesthetics and durability in every piece.

Thanks to its unique formulation, Red Earthenware clay offers a uniform flow in LDM WASP extruders, ensuring professional results while maintaining design integrity. The mineral blend enables fine details and consistent surfaces, adapting to both creative projects and technical applications. Its versatility and reliability make it an excellent choice for designers, engineers, and artists seeking high-quality 3D prints.

The natural clay mix for 3D printers Red Earthenware guarantees durable and resistant finishes, being compatible with various drying and firing processes. Its balanced composition ensures consistent performance, delivering professional and visually appealing results in any application. This material combines aesthetics, precision, and functionality, making it an essential resource for those looking to elevate their 3D clay printing projects to the next level.

1. Clay Preparation

  • Kneading and homogenization: Before use, knead the clay thoroughly to remove air bubbles and ensure a uniform texture. You can use a clay mixer or knead it manually.
  • Moisture: The clay should have the right level of moisture: not too dry (it cracks) and not too wet (it loses shape). If it’s too dry, gradually add water while kneading.

2. 3D Printing with Clay

  • Proper nozzle: Use nozzles of at least 1.5–2 mm in diameter to prevent clogging, especially with thicker clays.
  • Printing speed: Print at low speeds to prevent deformation and ensure good layer adhesion.
  • Support: If your design includes overhangs, use clay supports or redesign to minimize their need.

3. Drying and Firing

  • Slow drying: Dry pieces slowly and in a humid environment at first to prevent cracking. Cover them with plastic or a damp cloth.
  • Firing: Red earthenware is usually fired between 950°C and 1100°C (cone 04–0). Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.

4. Finishing and Glazing

  • Sanding: Before glazing, gently sand the dry pieces to remove imperfections.
  • Glaze: Use glazes compatible with the firing temperature of red earthenware. Always test on small samples before applying to large projects.

5. General Tips

  • Clean all equipment thoroughly after using clay to prevent clogging and extend its lifespan.
  • Store leftover clay in airtight bags to keep it from drying out.
  • Experiment with different mixtures and techniques to find the finish you like best.
