The PA12-CF10 filament is a high-performance filament in the Fiberon portfolio, featuring a long-chain PA12 base reinforced with 10% carbon fiber. This composition provides a key advantage over PA6 filaments: significantly reduced moisture sensitivity, which enhances handling, storage, and printing processes. The PA12-CF10 filament offers outstanding mechanical properties, making it a superior option for demanding applications. Its combination of strength, stability, and ease of use makes it ideal for sectors like aerospace, automotive, and composite manufacturing, where performance and reliability are essential. If a filament with even better mehanical properties and reduced moisture sensitivity is required, please see the Fiberon PA612-CF15 filament.

The PA12-CF10 filament offers a combination of enhanced material properties and easy-to-use printing features, such as minimal creep and the ability to perform high-speed printing at rates up to 300 mm/s. This filament does not require a heated chamber, allowing for consistent results at ambient temperatures. It is ideal for 3D printers designed for composite material extrusion, including models like the Raise3D E2CF and the Bambu Lab X1C. Additionally, PA12-CF10 is compatible with multimaterial systems, such as Bambu Lab's AMS module. For optimal durability and consistent printing performance, using an abrasion-resistant nozzle is recommended.

To boost the thermal and mechanical performance, PA12-CF10 parts should undergo a 100 ºC annealing process for 16 hours. This process requires careful handling to prevent deformation. Guidelines include waiting 24 hours after printing (or drying at 80 ºC for 2 hours) to relieve internal stresses, ensuring uniform oven temperatures, and adding supports (PolySupport for PA12 or PolyDissolve S1) for parts with overhangs, thin walls, or bridging structures. For optimal results, parts should be placed in the oven in the same orientation as during printing, ideally on the build plate itself, ensuring precise dimensional accuracy and long-term stability.

To achieve optimal print quality with the Fiberon PA12-CF10 filament, it is recommended to set the extrusion temperature between 280-300 ºC, and the print bed should be maintained between 40-50 ºC. It must be kept in mind that printing on a hotter bed will deactivate the Warp-Free technology. A room temperature for the build chamber is sufficient, and it is best to keep the cooling fan turned off. Fiberon PA12-CF10 supports high-speed printing with speeds of up to 300 mm/s, making it suitable for projects where efficiency is crucial.

Proper filament storage is essential for maintaining the quality of Fiberon PA12-CF10. To prevent compromised print quality due to moisture, it should be stored in a sealed container with desiccant. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, drying it at 100 ºC for 10 hours in a filament dryer is recommended (or PolyDryer at level 3 for 18 hours) to restore its optimal printing properties.

Since the Fiberon PA12-CF10 filament contains abrasive carbon fibers, it is highly recommended to use an abrasion resistant nozzle (hardnened steel, vanadium, ruby tip, etc) to avoid its excessive wear and, in consequence, inferior part quality.
