The PPS-CF10 filament, part of the Fiberon line of ultra-performance polymers, is a high-strength material infused with 10% carbon fibers, which enhances the strength of the printed parts and imparts metal-like stiffness and superior dimensional stability. PPS-CF10 enables the production of precise and stable parts without deformation issues and with elevated moisture insensitivity, even in demanding environments. With a heat deflection temperature exceeding 250 ºC, the PPS-CF10 filament is suitable for high-temperature applications. Its natural flame-retardant properties (V0 rating per UL 94) and broad chemical resistance to acids, alkalines, fuels, and solvents position it as an excellent choice for applications in aerospace, electronics, and molding, where stringent durability and safety standards are required.

Part 3D printed with the PPS-CF10 filament

The PPS-CF10 filament balances advanced properties with user-friendly printing characteristics, including low creep and compatibility with high-speed printing up to 300 mm/s. The filament does not require an actively heated chamber, enabling reliable results at room temperature. Optimal for 3D printers such as the Bambu Lab X1E, PPS-CF10 also supports multimaterial systems, like Bambu Lab's AMS module. To ensure nozzle longevity and consistent print quality, an abrasion-resistant nozzle is recommended, such as a hardened steel or ruby tip nozzle.

Parts 3D printed with the PPS-CF10 filament present great properties and performance. However, to boost the thermal and mechanical performance, PPS-CF10 parts can be annealed at 125 ºC for 16 hours. In fact, the mechanical properties presented in the Specifications tab come from tests conducted on parts that underwent this annealing process. To prevent deformation, 24 hours should pass after printing to relieve internal stresses. Adding support structures (with PolySupport for PA12) for parts with overhangs, thin walls, or bridging structures will also help. For optimal results, parts should be placed in the oven in the same orientation as during printing, ideally on the build plate itself, ensuring precise dimensional accuracy and long-term stability.

To achieve optimal print quality with the Fiberon PPS-CF10 filament, it is recommended to set the extrusion temperature between 310-350 ºC, and the print bed should be maintained between 80-90 ºC. A room temperature for the build chamber is sufficient, and it is best to keep the cooling fan turned off. Fiberon PPS-CF10 supports high-speed printing with speeds of up to 300 mm/s, making it suitable for projects where efficiency is crucial.

Proper filament storage is essential for maintaining the quality of Fiberon PPS-CF10. To prevent compromised print quality due to moisture, it should be stored in a sealed container with desiccant. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, drying it at 100 ºC for 10 hours in a filament dryer is recommended (or PolyDryer at level 3 for 18 hours) to restore its optimal printing properties.

Since the Fiberon PPS-CF10 filament contains abrasive carbon fibers, it is highly recommended to use an abrasion resistant nozzle (hardnened steel, vanadium, ruby tip, etc) to avoid its excessive wear and, in consequence, inferior part quality.
