The PETG-rCF08 filament from the Fiberon catalog of filaments is a versatile engineering-grade material, formulated with a PETG base reinforced by an 8% load of recycled carbon fiber. This unique blend combines the broad performance profile of PETG with the enhanced mechanical and aesthetic qualities imparted by carbon fiber reinforcement. Designed to yield high dimensional accuracy, this filament is ideal for producing components with demanding tolerances, suitable for applications in automotive, consumer products, and rapid prototyping.

As an entry-level composite filament, PETG-rCF08 balances advanced properties with user-friendly printing characteristics, including low creep and compatibility with high-speed printing up to 300 mm/s. The filament does not require an actively heated chamber, enabling reliable results at room temperature. Optimal for 3D printers built for composite extrusion, such as the Raise3D E2CF or Bambu Lab X1C, PETG-rCF08 also supports multimaterial systems, like Bambu Lab's AMS module. To ensure longevity and consistent print quality, an abrasion-resistant nozzle is recommended.

With notable mechanical properties—such as a Charpy impact resistance of 4 kJ/m², elongation at break of 5.7%, tensile strength of 59.8 MPa, and flexural strength of 94.6 MPa—PETG-rCF08 provides a robust foundation for functional parts. Its tensile and flexural moduli, at 3710 MPa and 3779 MPa respectively, demonstrate solid structural integrity across varied applications. For projects requiring even higher strength and stiffness, the Fiberon PET-CF17 filament is an excellent alternative thanks to its higher carbon fiber contents.

To achieve optimal print quality with the Fiberon PETG-rCF08 filament, it is recommended to set the extrusion temperature between 240-270 ºC, and the print bed should be maintained between 60-70 ºC. A room temperature for the build chamber is sufficient, and it is best to keep the cooling fan at 0-50 % speed. Fiberon PETG-rCF08 supports high-speed printing with speeds of up to 300 mm/s, making it suitable for projects where efficiency is crucial.

Proper filament storage is essential for maintaining the quality of Fiberon PETG-rCF08. To prevent compromised print quality due to moisture, it should be stored in a sealed container with desiccant. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, drying it at 65 ºC for three hours in a filament dryer is recommended (or PolyDryer at level 2 for 6 hours) to restore its optimal printing properties.

Since the Fiberon PETG-rCF08 filament contains abrasive carbon fibers, it is highly recommended to use an abrasion resistant nozzle (hardnened steel, vanadium, ruby tip, etc) to avoid its excessive wear and, in consequence, inferior part quality.
